You hit every spot. I always tell my customers there’s three key factors that determine the price which are weight, accessibility and volume. Estimates through pictures have been the key to my success. I used to do all in person estimates and it would mess my schedule up like crazy if I didn’t get one job and it was a huge hassle.

I’m just starting out but I’ve had issues with estimating with jobs that have mattresses and box springs. The transfer station in my town charges $50 for each mattress and $50 for each box spring. After calculating my overhead expenses, even my eyes bulge out at my estimate. For a couch the minimum dump fee is a $20 minimum. I am planning on taking the majority of furniture to goodwill or savers, or even flipping it myself for more of a profit
@whalescience88312 жыл бұрын
$100 base price for arrival regardless of if it's just 1 item. From there the trailer is divided into sections each costing a certain amount with variance depending on mass of items. Hazmat disposal (fridges etc.) Additional $50 dump charge. Green waste and other bulk trash is prices differently.
@realskylane2 жыл бұрын
Base price will range depending on area and how you run your business. Most landfills/transfer stations don’t label refrigerators as HAZMAT all though it has refrigerant or Freon..unless in certain parts of California Here, there is no need for an additional charge of certain appliances. But you are right about everything else👍🏽

When I get onsite for a house cleanout, I calculate mentally how many loads are going to be, and then I add one more truck load just in case and then I go high on price if the client says it is what it is, the job is mine, and if he complaint about price then we start negotiating to get the job for a fair price. I work for a company, and I am not bilingual, but I know how to upsell in English to make money!
@deezbiscuit8552 ай бұрын
i work for a certain company and one big thing to make sure you do is build rapport. I agree with everything in this video but i dont think i saw this point brought up. Its easy to walk into a place and quote a price, but if the person dont know a THING about you, or you dont show really any interest other than getting paid, its less likely they are willing to spend the quoted price for whatever they want removed. Talking to them like a human and building a conversation can take your quote a long way compared to if you just walked in and gave a price without really talking. Just my thought

It really depends on the area you’re in example. If you’re in Boca Raton Florida to remove a couch would be a higher bid. Then let’s say if you were in another area where it was lower, per capita, income or more competition for example, would you say removing a couch that was on the porch and took five minutes what would you bid?

I give my price upfront so I can get the tire kickers off my line! Lol the customer going to go get other estimates anyways if they’re that type. They either want the job done asap or not! Maybe different for hauling as there’s lots of competition but I do handyman work. Thinking about doing hauling full time as I only do it on occasion. Good tips!
@realskylane2 жыл бұрын
That’s also a way to get the tire kickers out of there💪🏽 in junk removal you’ll want to stay away from an upfront LOCKED IN price over the phone but maybe in person. Stay at it and keep hustlin!

@christopherung70582 жыл бұрын
@@elliotmedina4065 What is your one item price?
@elliotmedina40652 жыл бұрын
@@christopherung7058 it varies if it is just a couch or fridge that I don't need my trailer for and I can put in the back of my truck it can range from 75-200. A lot of customers do not know junk removal or how it works when it comes to getting rid of the item and the gas expense. It all depends on how easy and accessible the item would be for me. ex. Someone wants to get rid of a couch but live on the 3rd floor with no elevator of course I will do it but understand they called because they do not want to do it especially being on the third floor. Their is many things to take into account. The easier the job the lower the price.

Depends on state. In Ohio no. But liability insurance is good to have most commercial customers want that before you do anything. Depending on the weight of your vehicle you may also need a DOT medical card and/or a CDL if you’re some really big stuff. For this guys set up a medical card and insurance is all you “need”. If your starting with just a normal f150 or something and maybe a small trailer then you don’t even need the medical card.
