I’m very interested in getting a flow hive and I have a source for the bees. However, I’m told by a keeper that the hive does not really work well . I need to know from someone who has one- is it really something which actually works. Not someone from the company, or any paid advertisement. How effective is this flow hive??

A lot of it depends on where you live I guess. Your best bet is to go on the HoneyFlow forum and look for other beekeepers in your part of the world. I am from middle-west Germany in my 2nd year and it works fine for me so far even though a lot of the traditional beekeepers were skeptical. Most often they told me it wouldn't work if the bees collect nectar that crystallizes inside of the Flow Hive. But nobody really had an answer how that is different to when the same happens in their regular frames. It is more expensive than a common setup, so if by "effective" you are asking for commercial environment, it probably is not the right choice. But for me as a hobbyist who just wants to learn, it has some advantages. I don't need a lot of extra equipment for the honey extraction and it's possible to extract honey "in between" while the commercial beekeepers have to add more honey storage boxes until they harvest all at once for example. I can also just extract parts of a frame and check for water content to make sure the honey is good to harvest..

It is very sh*tty, the plastic will slightly leak during summer. Leaking here means both melting as well as chemical reaction with natural bee enzyme and stuff. Learn beekeeping long enough you will know this is an overpriced wood thats at best does nothing better than a normal hive and at worst making things slightly more toxic. Plus whenever shippping goes wrong the blame goes to you not FlowHive crooks
