If you are unsure about using 16 and applying too much just use clear tape and a cutter and apply tape everywhere where you want no visible glue or stains. You can remove the tape right away and you get a perfect line that way

To get the solvent into the bottle without using a syringe, you can put all the pieces of the plastic bottle together, squeeze it (making sure its empty, of course), dip the tip into the bottle, let go/unsqueeze the bottle and the solvent will draw itself in.

I love the beginning of this video. Question for you; I am in the midst of my spray foam 3d pieces 3 of them, as I had to cut it in 3 to get it in my tank. Now I have large holes on the inside also some small holes. I put sand in the lage holes and sprayed more foam to try to seal it up. It worked only to a degree. Is there something I can paint on it to seal the holes up???.

awesome, i was gonna send a message on a closer look on the two welds on a couple small pieces of acrylic....only i kinda like to see a close up of what it would look like with two small sample pieces being welded together. Something that shows a good weld. I know you showed a little bit on the part four of your build, but something zoomed in like you have here would be good. And maybe show the pin method in case others are wondering how that is done too, I'm curious as well since...

Hi! Do you have a recommendation for gluing mirrored acrylic? I have tried an epoxy glue as it doesn’t seem to eat away the mirrored backing but it doesn’t grab on as well and I’ve had parts come apart. Thank you!

hi, thak you for a great video. Could you please tell me how to go about patching a tank that has 2 holes drilled. I have a small piece of acrylic that I can block the two holes. Can I use weld-on 16 glue to patch the two holes with a piece of acrylic and then apply the weld-on 16 again on around the edge of the piece of the acrylic? thank you

Hi got to the point where I have sourced my acrylic supplier and waiting to receive the can of Weldon 4. I have a doubt... How do you deal with spills? Outside, I can't see a big deal, specially if you plan to use a router to round the edges (and then polish) but on the inside, how do you deal with the extra that comes out once you clamp it down? I can usually obtain enough solvent in the bottle for a reasonable sized job by simply squeezing the bottle a bit (displacing air), then inserting the "needle" of the upside down bottle into the solvent and slowly releasing the squeeze on the bottle. By reasonable sized job I mean enough so that I don't lose too much solvent due to evaporation while having to reopen and squeszing the solvent from the bottle back into the storage canister.

my lucite cart fell over and two wheels came off. the wheels are embedded in lucite. one wheel broke off smoothly. the other wheel cracked off with a jagged piece of the base of the cart. Will it be repairable? and which glue will be strong enough to be able to use the cart

When I join pieces using the 16 I get a bunch of bubbles forming as it cures. It's even worse when there is a gap. I think it's the solvent evap and out gassing but as it forms a skin over the surface that cures and hardens sooner the bubbles can't come out and thus cure and stay within the joint. Any advice for how to prevent this? Thanks.

If you only use a medical syringe with a needle, then the glue will react with the plastic of the syringe and will the needle clog?

Joey, or anyone else who has cemented acrylic successfully: On the four brand new sheets I will be using, each one has a sort of "lip" on the longest edge. While all sides are perfectly square/straight/gapless, do I need to prepare that one side by softly sanding it down. I can provide pictures incase I'm not making too much sense. Thanks!

I'm restoring a Zykos acrylic drum set. There's there types that I'm confused about. 3,4, and 5. I'm not sure which one is better for my use. I know 3 could be used for hairline cracks but it seems like 4 could be used for any application. This is the stuff that makes me confused.

+Xeppeling To make it brief, those "cracks" were actually just scratches. However, I did have an opening gap on the floor tom so hopefully this would help. I used the Weldon SCIGRIP 16 Acrylic Cement to piece it back together. If there's any rough residue, you could always sand it off. I don't know much about major cracks but I have a better idea about how to deal with scratches. Extra fine sandpaper of 1000,1500,2000 grits and even further would do the trick. Make sure it's wet and it's better to do it by hand. When there's a blemish due to sanding, That's when the Novos automotive scratch cleaner comes in handy. Sorry I didn't answer very much on how to deal with major cracks in an Acrylic drumset but hopefully I was able to help through my experience in restoring the Zickos. I believe the Weldon 4 would work on waterthin cracks and the SCIGRIP Weldon 16 would work for major cracks. You could also do a first and final clean with Plexus automotive plastic cleaner. I didn't have time to fully finish the project but when I do, I'll upload a video and a better, more detailed explanation on how I did it. If there's any better suggestions, please let me know :-) -Alex

Often it is EDC { Ethylene DiChloride } Which has a sweet Ethereal smell to it .. Thus it smells similar to Chloroform as both contain Chlorine. EDC is heavier than water and is Carcinogenic and highly toxic. So handle with care. And do not get onto the skin, as it penetrates skin very quickly.

In EU Weld-on is known as Scigrip. I found it in Poland (Scigrip 4-SC), so I suppose You will find it in UK as well. The problem in PL is in getting acrylic sheet. I mean a proper for aquarium.
