I went grey cold turkey. My first attempt shocked me in discovering that I really had white hair (not grey)! I immediately dyed it back to my formerly brunette shade. I waited two more years before I attempted the process again. I kept my hair in a ponytail and trimmed it periodically to get rid of the old growth. As time went by the coloured portion of my hair faded to a dirty blonde. It took two years before I finally had natural white hair. It took my mother at least another two years to stop nagging me to dye it brunette again. That was six years ago and I have not looked back. Meanwhile, my mother continues to dye her hair. To each his own.

Hi Victoria, that is quite a process that you went through! Thanks for sharing your story.

I went gray due to allergies to the dye of color. It was liberating not to deal with roots showing anymore. You look very nice with the gray.

Thanks Merri Ella, I don't miss the hair coloring at all!

Excellent explanation! I did this as well but I was dark brown so I has orange hair for a week. Then she put in low lights. I'm completely Grey now and happy with the results.

That's great! It takes some courage but I am so glad I decided to go natural and let the gray shine.

I am hoping I will love my natural gray hair. I am tired of dying my hair but I think if I have highlights I can go natural and accept it.

Highlights may be a good transition for you to adjust to your natural gray. Wishing you the best!

I love your natural looking hair, very nice. I'm having a hard time going gray, I hate having it color my hair to brown, and it's so expensive too.
@CandiRandolph3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I know what you mean, Kathryn. That's why I made the decision to invest in the color removal and do it quickly. There was still some transition, but the highlights and lowlights blended everything quite nicely.

Everything you said really hit home with me. I'm 63, getting ready to turn 64 and have been thinking about going grey for the past 2 months. Been coloring my hair for about 30 yrs and would be about 60% silver-grey if I let it grown out. Recently spoke with a professional color stylist about doing the whole process of blending etc in a day and she estimated I'd spend about $285. Do you think that's reasonable?
@CandiRandolph3 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, I can say that from my experience it is similar to what I paid. It's an investment for sure, but for me it was worth it. All the best to you!

Was there a lot of salon maintenance after the original work done you explained in the video?
@CandiRandolph2 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, no, I didn't have any highlights or lowlights added after the first time. We considered it, but it really wasn't needed, so I just let the natural gray grow in. It worked out well for me.
