Goku is one of the voices I hold close to my heart. In this video, I explain how I came up with it plus some tips on how to emulate it! Dragon Ball Z Abridged is one of those projects that means a lot to me and my time with TeamFourStar (TFS) has been great. I asked this question before which he answered in one of his Q&A's-I think he said he wasn't sure but I could be wrong or it could have changed. I know he isn't playing adult Gohan which kinda sucks but the new voice shown in Android 13 for adult Gohan is actually pretty good played by the dude who voices cloud in FF7MA

Aaryan Vashisht yeah, I also liked that approach on gohan. Not to bash on MasakoX in any way when I say this, but goku / gohans voice are, in my opinion, too similar at times. Of course as it was stated in this vídeo, what mostly distinguishes them is what and how they deliver a line, but there were times that I had to doublecheck "who said that"

I respect the hell out of this video, for a few major key points. So take notes aspiring voice actors because Masako knows his stuff! 1. It's not JUST about the voice, it's also about thinking and acting as the character you're voicing would! 2. Really getting into the emotions you're conveying via your voice. but also physically conveying them helps them come across more natural! And not forced! 3. And 3 just giving it a go! @@youngk3440 In DBZA Piccolo yelled dodge every time he would hit Gohan and then he yelled at him to Dodge the Nappa Cannon. Well he got PTSD from the dodge and froze up. And he said "damn you pavlov" Pavlov was the father of behavioral conditioning. Basically he was the guy who put together "Action = Response" He did experiments where when a bell rang,some mice got treats. So when it rang they always ran to where the treats came from,even when there wasnt one. In Gohan's case it was Dodge. When he heard Dodge his body experienced pain so he tensed up and prepared for it rather than dodging. Thus "damn you Pavlov"

So you approached it similar to Nozawa, having the difference stem from the characters' manner of speech, rather than the voice. That's really interesting. I'm curious, have you guys settled on what you're going to do when Gohan grows up and Goten is introduced?

The OG Masako is/was still kinda is my favorite iteration of Goku's Voice. However your Goku Voice MasakoX, is also my favorite Goku as well! I never cared for Sean Schemmel's Goku, though he has gotten better over the years. Your Goku though! It's amazing! It's like perfect! Basically an English version of Masako Nozawa for me. I think the reason that people suggest that Goku is a goof is probably due to the main english dub showcasing him as a hard headed battle maniac, as well as elements of the country bumpkin type character that comes across more in the Japanese version thanks to his pronunciation and higher voice. The TFS version of Goku is undoubtedly an idiot, because it takes these two aspects to their absolute extreme. Or at least, that's my opinion and how I see it.

Khejurwala Mondol Funimation and ocean are both not even accurate.Don't even try to tell me too look at funimation when i grew up with that dub i know exactly what they did 100% in that dub. Also goku literally hasn't changed since dragonball. Only thing that happned since the beginning of dragonball from z to super/or gt is that goku got stronger and smarter in fights. so cool to hear you talk about this! I had wondered about the progressive rise in Goku's pitch. I'd always just thought of it as him getting more and more punch-drunk as the series (and the resultant head injuries) goes on. please keep doing these, we all love it!
