Do you cover the bud too with the tape? so when do we need to remove this tape?

this is a special type of grafting type called parafilm, its thin, stretchy and waxy, allows the moisture to stay in and keeps bud alive, when its grows it pushes through and the films tape breaks down over time.

what do you use as the base to put the budding branch into? is it just another branch that was planted?

The rootstock is a seedling mango tree. We use turpentine variety mang. We plant seed and grow them then graft onto them after a few months to a year. They make for hardy rootstocks in Florida.
