Open them with a knife, add some drops of lemon (throw in trash if they are not moving) and eat them raw. Ultimate combo with ouzo!

One small thing. If you want all the sand out of the clams and the broth, soak the clams in some cold water and sea salt bath for about an hour before cooking. When cleaning the clams you will see all the excess sand at the bottom of the water bath. Love this recipe.

Barefoot. Sauvignon Blanc..! Of course, it's best to go with a wine that you like, and drink. Barefoot SB works real good with this recipe. (I'm writing this the next day, re-heating the leftovers and pouring on that wine butter sauce.... damn, there's never enough sauce)..!

If you put the live clams in a big pot with water and add a cup of cornmeal and let them sit overnight, the clams will eat the cornmeal and expel the sand that's in their systems. They'll be a lot less gritty. But I'm sure you already knew that...lol

These guys are awesome!! They can cook it all!! No more going out to eat for my family. Thanks for the great recipes!!
I don't get why people are upset about clams and shrimp, this recipe looks delicious. For those vegetarians who are upset about us carnivors eating dead things, you need to come to terms with eating dead things yourself. Plants are alive, vegetables were alive, and yet you lot think yourselves so much better than the rest of us. Enjoy your dead plants, we'll enjoy our dead animals. We've long sense come to terms with what we do, its time you come to terms with what you do.

Are you located near the ocean, gulf, bay or some sort of salt-water body of water? What I mean is, do you have access to freshly harvested clams? Or, did you just pick them up at a local supermarket. Jersey Shore here. We have truly fresh clams, and I LOVE your recipe! Can't wait to make it!

Is that Barefoot Moscato? I always thought that was more of a dessert wine... I find that one too sweet, can you use any white wine? Greetings from Mexico!
@MikeMikeLowrey11 жыл бұрын
@MrPvJay Barefoot (the wine co.that it looks like he's using) also make Pinot. So it may not be Mascoto.

I've made this before. We have super fresh clams here (Jersey Shore). You can substitute the wine with beer if you wish. They are delicious! A bit of humor: Notice how he tossed the red pepper flakes jar to the ground 2:10 after using it? I don't recommend doing that.
