HOW TO: Grizzly 660 Clutch Maintenance, Primary and Secondary

If you have never seen the inside of your Grizzly's (dry) clutching system, this is a video explaining the steps to take for tear down, maintenance, and assembly of the Primary and Secondary clutch sheaves.
I tried to keep it entertaining for the more boring parts

i have a 2006 grizzly 660. i put some hardware cloth 1/4 inch sq. to prevent rodents from getting into the clutch breather tube, it is my experience that they love to build nests under the front top cover. a good idea every spring to remove it for inspection as they also will chew on the wire harness, i had to replace mine before i new this was a problem, this is a great video. thanks

Nice bike! I have a green 02 grizzly 660 and she runs like a champ. I inspect mine every spring, I go over the whole quad.

Yamaha does not use a conventional belt system. they use the best in my opinion. there is no need for shims anywhere on the primary or secondary clutching system, Yamaha uses very low maintenance belt drive systems. The only modifications you might need to do to a Yamaha belt system would be a clutch kit on tires over the 27" size. and Bruces 650 is holding up very well. Thanks for watching.

Lmao holy chit,I’m looking for information on how to check for a mouse in the exact same spot,I can smell the turd threw my snorkel as well,and poly do some maintenance on my belt as well ,holy chat that was funny

Thanks. lol. Well as gross as it sounds, with the mouse out of there, its stopped making a whistling sound through my intake snorkel. He was stuck right where the bell housing goes into the case for the clutch cover. so there had to be some restriction there. Oh well. Lesson well learned! Thanks for watching!

theres a fairly simple way of testing to see if your head gasket is toast. remove the rad cap and spark plug. take a skinny wine cork .. or cut one.. and drill a hole through it, place the tip of your air gun through it. place your piston at TDC (Top Dead Center) as if you where going to adjust valves. Blow compressed air down your spark plug hole sealing it off as best you can. If your coolant bubbles or you can hear air escaping through your open rad, you have a blown head gasket.

Do you have all your vent-lines snorkeled? especially the one that comes off the carburetor? When is the last time you dissasembled the gas cap breathing vent? are you sucking in water through that. many of them splash water up into the gas tank vent line and it will Vapor lock your bike. Try those things first and get back to me.

Ruyguy...I am trying to get the put back on but the washer isn't allowing enough threads for the nut to start. I have squeezed the belt together to allow for more room but its still coming up short and hitting the belt. The belt is spinning freely as well. Any thoughts? Thanks

Ok so I just replaced the belt on my 2003 grizzly 660 and put it all back together and it spins fine in park but I put it into gear and it wines and the primary clutch stops spinning. Help please!

Hey cool vid. Have you heard of ceaseless weights? I plan on doing that as soon as I figure my carb/dynojet/ kn air filter problem. Quarter throttle dogs out and spits. I can place my hand over half of the air intake runs fine. Do you think I need a bigger pilot jet?

Thank you for all your videos ! You are giving a great help and confidence on maintaining our bikes ourselves. I did watch this video and the one about wet clutch maintenant many times. My one way bearing was toast, and I decided to give it a try. In 4 hours, I actually did the job, and my engine brake is back now. I'm really proud as I'm no mechanic at all.

I love my bike. And i had an HMF swamp series XL on it too. I just found it a bit too loud for me. especially if i have to do any amount of road running.
