Whoops just realized I didn't talk about height! This one's a little bit taller than P. Squamiferum from what I've seen, one can expect it to grow to a terminal height of about 9 feet indoors, a little bit taller in optimal conditions

So the petioles start out pink but darken to a dark red, that looks very nice! I'll look forward to the Domini video, I keep wanting to buy one when I see them.
@maxzytaruk85582 жыл бұрын
Yess exactly! They're gorgrous, super interesting texture too, oddly I find the texture of the different Florida varieties is also different. Yooo you should get one! They're so rewarding to watch grow, I'd argue they're even easier than the original peace Lily which is insane because that one is super easy too

I'm feeling very smug about finding one of these as a baby plant at my local garden centre, for only £2.99. It has grown rapidly. Thanks for confirming that it's a climber, I shall want a pole for it soon.

Could you show more of the plant? Put the plant down, stand in front of it and keep it insight as you talk? I want to see if the leaves look like mine. I have sticky sap on some leaves. I'm treating them with soap and Neem oil. So now, at the 7:53 mark you say that sticky stuff is sugar sap that is normal? Not from bugs? I'm getting confused. 😵💫

Great video, I just got this from a nursery nearby and I also just got the Squami, they look really similar and the only difference I see is the Florida has red petioles vs a more orange on the Squami , are there any other notable differences? Thanks for all of the details! Very helpful

What is your soil mix
@juniperparla35842 жыл бұрын
I had to get rid of my florida cutting last summer, I couldn't get rid of the thrips it came with so in the end it wasn't worth it. Same story with the squamiferum 😔 But I do have two rather long pedatum cuttings growing in water since a year or so. No thrips thank goodness, knock on wood 🤞🏼
@maxzytaruk85582 жыл бұрын

Hey Cynthia:) I use a big tank of 1 part miracle-gro moisture Mix, and about 3 cups of peat moss, and about 3 cups of perlite, depending on the plant. For this particular Philodendron I also add Orchid bark. My measurements are not exact, but a good ratio to stick with is 2 parts potting mix to 1 part peat moss to 1 part perlite and trace amounts of orchid bark. I hope this helps you :)
