You shouldn’t have to do that though, people shouldn’t be tight and let people crap a cutting here and there. It’s not going to cost them anything or hurt their plants especially if they have heaps. I am so sick of how greedy people are these days. Ya never see anyone offering free cuttings to heirloom plants of any kind, they always trying to make money. I have 3 kinds of mint and I would happily let people have some clippings to them. I have peppermint, spearmint and normal mint u have with mint sauce for roast lamb etc I’m shattered I used to have my own aloe but it died one year when it got too wet and cold due to our crap cold weather. If I had kept it under shelter it would have been okay I’m sure. I have lost so many plants over the years that I used to have from non gmo og plants. But yeah just knock on peoples door and ask them, surely most people wouldn’t care if ya grabbed a cutting. It’s just ridiculous of people to say no if they have plenty of it growing. I mean I have rosemary and lavender too which I have had for years and I’m happy to help any one who needs cuttings if they live in Aus. I would appreciate the same back but I never seem to meet anyone who isn’t a tight ass.

@dogandcat36723 жыл бұрын
This guy truly got the clicks he wanted. Guys, this would not work. You will just waste a good leaf if you follow this. 1st, propagation requires you to pull the leaf at the very base of the plant. It is hard to explain, the leaf will be slightly indented and will not be to moist. Most succulents evolved to be like this, if it is cut like how he did it, it will not grow. 2nd, this is not aloe vera, it is another type of vera plant, I don't know the type. The vera leaf still would not have grown though. 3rd, the most important thing to note. Aloe vera and most veras can not grow from a leaf! The only was to get another aloe vera is to wait until the mother plant grows a pup beside it or plant some of the seeds.
@maheenshahzad73696 жыл бұрын
Guys this actually doesn't work well. The whole process is called propagation. You need to have the bit of the leaf that connects to the plant to be completely intact, cutting it off like that removes the part that callouses over, grows roots and eventually a new plant.
@GOBIAS.INDUSTRIES.5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can second that. I've actually never even been able to get a leaf to root, even when removing the entire petiole and letting it callus. I've tried dozens of times. Luckily, aloe vera puts off plenty of pups, so I have plenty to go around 😁👍

I shallowly planted it to try it out, but I wasn’t sure if it could be a seed inside or if it’s just a place where it has calloused over in a strange way. Thanks

@3:44 it says "Better options is puted some sort of root hormone in water. Ground cinnamon or honey will work as well. Question: do we put cinnamon & honey in the water? how much of each? please give directions?
@snorksonforks5 жыл бұрын
Can confirm this works ... But why is your plant not putting off pups? That container might be too shallow . ALSO: aloe IS a rooting hormone ... use a leaf to make some "tea" and use it on any plant. if you soak some aloe in a bucket of water and then mush it up .. its like liquid gold for plants.

Are the leaves from the mother aloe (the aloe you’ve cut from) growing out? I have an aloe that my nephew or sister plucked a leaf off of clean down to the stem and the leaf is actually growing out. It has a blunt edge where the leaf got snapped off but it’s about an itch grown out from the stem, where before (about 6 weeks ago) it was cut off clean down to the stem, so close I almost didn’t realize a leaf had been taken off.

I do believe this is some sort of agave not aloe vera.
@GOBIAS.INDUSTRIES.5 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's definitely an aloe (agaves don't have nearly that much moisture in their leaves when cut), but I've never seen aloe Vera that looked like that. It looks like some other aloe...
@punKRaWKgrL3335 жыл бұрын
It's a "Climbing Aloe" the scientific name can easily be searched, but I am watching the video, lol.. I have a few of them. They are quite different from an Aloe Vera

@@punKRaWKgrL333 Thanks for the info! I Googled it and you're spot on - Aloe Ciliaris is the taxonomic name. I'm going to look into getting some of this - it's pretty awesome.

In other words... Mine won’t survive. It’s winter and it’s not enough light for mine, I think. I haven’t overwatered them I’m sure, but two of my plants started rotting at the stem.. So I decided to cut off the leaves that seemed healthy... And been letting them dry but they also start to rot... I don’t have any grow lights and since it’s winter I’m guessing I don’t have much of a chance getting them to survive. Will it help if I bring up the heating a bit and put them under a normal LED light? I’d love to get an answer to this ‘cause I really want them to survive..
