Your channel is very soothing and you're very kind to your plants ❤.@@TheAloeVeraGarden However, I have to correct you. I have grown them from the upper part of the cut plant, but, it takes months. It sat the same for maybe even 6 months before it caught. But it can be done, you just need to be extremely patient. Notice how none of your upper leaf cuttings plants rotted after weeks? The plant is very much alive still, but it takes a long time to recover and grow! Cheers! 🎉

question, once the aloe vera is dried and planted, will I need to water the soil before or after potting?
@alexistaylor969 Жыл бұрын
You always want to water after with cuttings or transplanting rooted cuttings to a new pot. The water ensures that the dirt makes full contact with the plant stem and roots allowing just enough air space for gas exchange but not so much that the stem or root becomes dry and dies. So for plats that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting.
@ThePinkpetals Жыл бұрын
Lol-- that was my same question
@fun_ghoul Жыл бұрын
@@alexistaylor969 _"So for plats [sic] that can be easily overwatered you will want to skip moistening the dirt prior to planting and then water after planting."_ OK...unless your medium is bone dry to begin with. Then, watering after the fact will likely result in pockets of dry soil. This is especially so with well-draining media, where the water runs off while some parts remain dry. Just make sure your medium is well-drained. If all you have is soil, steal some sand from a playground!

Why are you saying that? You cannot grow aloe plants from the tops of leaves. They will not grow roots. Stop saying things that are not true.
@scootermom17913 ай бұрын
That makes perfect sense to me. If a person cuts another kind of succulent leaf in half then try to propagate it, it just withers up and dies. However, if you use an intact leaf, it will typically reproduce (not always but most of the time). I just got an aloe vera plant for the first time because I've read that parrots are supposed to like it, and it's healthy for them. So far, mine aren't the least bit interested but hopefully will learn to enjoy it in time. I've successfully propagated other succulents but was clueless about how to do so with an aloe.

Today is 16 April 2023, on Sunday, and I wasn't sure how to proceed after I let my leaves heal. Then I came across your video today, and I learned so much from it! I thought it was genius of you using the stones to help the plant stay upright until it roots! And I also learned that the new growth term is called "pups"🤓 The only two questions I have are-- do I wet the soil prior to planting the leaves-- and how wet should it be? I also appreciated knowing just how the plant will look once the pups start coming in! I'm already excited about this venture!

Hallo mein Held! ⛅️ SATIRE OFF! Also mal wieder im Ernst- Modus! Also Geduld haben?! Also wurden reichlich schwache Pflanzen irgendwie irre verbrannt. 🫠🥲✌️ So, gut nun! = "Bleibt bitte einfach cool. Gute Nacht Freunde! 🇩🇪 🫂✌️

Succulent soil.. Which usually has sand and dries out faster. Ive used potting soil but i wouldnt if new to it and dont know watering routine for it.
@oldkingcrow777 Жыл бұрын
Like Dana said, get cactus/succulent soil. If you want, you can just make your own by mixing: Compost Peat Moss/Coco Coir Sand Perlite Boom. Many people are hesitant to mix their own dirts, but the thing is if you're not adding fertilizers you're really just trying to get the right consistency/drainage for the right plant. I mix fertilizer in when blending but if it's a first time just avoid that part and fertilize after the plant is established

But that would mean you would be able to just cut in to the middle of the leaf and you would see a new aloe plant grow from the middle of the leaf and I have NEVER seen that... Though you might be able to plant a clinical clean aloe in to the middle of an aloe leaf 🤔 would be fun to see if that would be possible but you would need to make sure no soil or other stuff got in to the leaf...

Incredible!!! Thank you so much for sharing this! I have a large aloe but it hasn’t given me pups in 2 years. I ow believe this is because too big a pot (but plant is happy and healthy just no pups)

Strange. Aloes normally put out pups soon enough cause they hate being alone

Hi! Did you watered the leaves after you planted them? If you did, how often did you water it?
@TheAloeVeraGarden2 жыл бұрын
I just kept the soil moist. When the soil gets dry, I sprinkle a little water.

Do you ever try bulbinella. It is aloe family I think and also produces gel. It is easy to harvest and squeeze out gel. How does it's gel compare to aloe gel

Hi again!! I'm so happy I found your videos, and I keep having more questions. I really appreciate your guidance! Once the mother leaf has made roots/pups, can I cut off the mother leaf?
@TheAloeVeraGarden2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can.

Please advise when to water the soil. I did exactly this and watered thereafter. The pups have rot now. Please advise on soil preparation
@fun_ghoul Жыл бұрын
If you can buy soil, look for one good for cacti and succulents. If you're using your local soil, try to mix in something to make it drain better, like sand. If you can't do either, just plant them and don't water thereafter unless they're discernibly drying out. Put differently, you already know what too much water looks like, so use a lot less than last time and see where you end up. I mean, right? You can do this. Cheers.

So is there any advantage to cutting the leaf in half at all? Except to experiment. But in general would it be better to propagate the whole leaf?
@funwithinnu1908 Жыл бұрын
Great effort..do we need to water it every day,,n keep it in sun..?
@TheAloeVeraGarden Жыл бұрын
Keep it in first in a well lighted area and when the pups start to show, slowly expose them to sunlight. Water only when the soil gets dry.

1:50 So do we place them in a shaded area? Or a well lighted area?
@anonymousfarishta Жыл бұрын
Keep at that place where that must get upto 4-6 hour sunliht and after that in shedy area
@TheAloeVeraGarden Жыл бұрын
You can keep them in a well light area, and when they are starting to grow, you can slowly introduce them to sunlight.

Good morning sir, May I know what variety of aloe vera that is marketable for usage of creating beauty products? Salamat po sir.
@TheAloeVeraGarden8 ай бұрын
If you are just starting, I would recommend the chinensis variety because they grow and propagate fast. At the same time, it is good to have barbadensis on the side, it grows bigger with less care.

Did the top part of the plant ever propagate? Also, why cut the tip off?

Hello, do we put the vase directly in the sun or in the shade and when we water it ? Thanks .

Place the vase in a well-lighted area but no direct sunlight and just keep the soil moist.

I put 10 pieces of aloe vera in separate pots. Some pots had compost that I had made from banana peels, eggshells and some with just new potting soil. I dipped all 10 in honey. I put them all in the shade and after two weeks they were rotting. After three weeks only one is left and that’s the one where only the bottom is cut and the tip is left intact. I only watered them every two days to keep the soil moist. Not sure where I went wrong. I will try your method.

did you water them or moist the soil? i over watered mine and trying to grow it back
@fun_ghoul Жыл бұрын
Video dude is an expert, so he can get away with soil that drains poorly. For us non-experts, best to stick to a growing medium with lots of perlite and vermiculite. Do NOT use "garden soil", "topsoil", "black earth", etc., at least not without amendments (vermiculite, perlite, sand), or you're gonna end up with root rot. To bastardize a Michael Parenti quote, it's not overwatering, but underoxygenating!
