How to Grow and Care for Moonflower

Easy! I put 2 seeds per peat pot. Kept moist and inside an aluminum pan with a clear plastic cover on top. (aluminum casserole pans with plastic clear covers….from Dollar Tree). Sat it on a heat pad on ‘medium temp’ indoors. They were up in 4 days! I do zinnias same way. Ahna Atlanta Ga.

I was just given some moon flower seeds. I nicked one maybe two. But it'll take them a while to start growing since its still chilly outside. They are in my greenhouse.

I grew these two years ago and did amazing but this year they just won’t grow. They grew about 3 pairs of leaves and haven’t done anything else. Do you have any tips please

I soaked, but did not nick mine. They did not sprout, but I went ahead and planted them. It's been 7 days and I still don't have anything growing. Do I need to give up on these seeds and try again?

No don't throw away just get a pair of nail clippers and clip part of the outer shell it helps to get it started .

I just planted one and I didn’t know they were toxic, so what am I supposed to do? What can I touch? Can I smell it?

😎 Yes you can touch it. You should pick the flowers so they keep blooming. From old guy that’s grown them for 40 years

The Ipomoea Alba Moonflower is far less toxic that the Dutura Innoxia Moonflower which is highly toxic. Both bloom at night, look similar, and smell great.

​@@peteblum2143oh wow, you are the one to ask, my seed packets says these grow 12-15 feet tall. All the pictures I've seen they are growing in I guess a clump would describe it. So, do they grow 12 feet tall? I'm trying to decide where to put them.

@@mousepolice55 I think you might have bought moonflower VINE seeds . They do grow 12 feet tall. My moonflowers seeds grow to three to 4, feet tall 😒 Sorry

PS The moonflowers I grow are between 3 to 5 feet and are like a medium bush size. If you bought them in a packet I’m pretty sure they are the vines. Good luck 😎👍
