Hello, QUESTION for you. If I mistakenly introduced to light on day 4 after the weight time instead of putting them in dark time and they've been in light for few hours when I realized this. Is there a chance I could put them in dark for 2-3 days and they'll forgive me or its not worth trying ? Love your channel thanks very much. Good work!
@coletivatedgreens69342 жыл бұрын
Using coconut coir and maintaining proper moister, humidity, and temperature, I see no problem with introducing them to light at day 4. I do have a different process for watering during the blackout phase which I think helps root development so you can start bottom watering sooner. I usually harvest my broccoli micro-greens on day 8. I get having 2 extra days worth of growing increases the yield, but as far as quality goes I see no reason to grow past 8 days. Drying your greens after harvest is key though. Most of this is particular to broccoli.

You never know when a spiritual/ existential truth will come through a conduit like our brother here 😇If you get it, you got it 😇 And if you don't your still in blackout 😊 No worries, the light will come, keep going, I believe in you, and I love you 😇💛 Takes more than a few days for people though 😉 Thank you Princeton Microgreens. "Plus its all black so the light won't be able to shine in. Now why is that important that we have blackout? Well what happens during blackout is the plant and the microgreens, they are looking for light, and because they're looking for light they grow upwards to look for that light. So in theory what we're actually doing is tricking the microgreen into thinking that there's no light by putting it in the dark. That way it grows up and grows nice and tall. So that's the purpose of blackout with your micro greens. A lot of microgreens as soon as you introduce them to light they stop growing really tall, so you trick them by putting them in the dark for a couple days, have them grow tall, and then you introduce them to light afterwards." the Truth is Love 💛 the Way is Peace ☮ and Life grows towards the light 🌞 🌱

I’m curious as to why you put weight on the seeds right away. I was reading the directions on seeds in the True-Lead Market, and they say blackout dome first, then last few days, flip the lid to add a little stress to the seedlings. Just curious if you tried both ways and decided on your method! (As always, thanks for all your videos!)
@PrincetonMicrogreens3 жыл бұрын
Weight is added to the tray, forcing the seeds to root deeper and grow stronger after they germinate. The weight also keeps the planting surface compacted during and after germination reducing loose soil during harvest. To be honest, im not sure why Trueleaf has those directions as EVERY grower I've ever met uses weight day 1. Thanks for watching and hope your grows turn out well!

We grow so many crops and our humidity is tough to keep low no matter how many dehumidifiers we use. Because of this we go a bit more on the lower end when seeding to allow plenty of airflow. We also live in a very high humidity state, we are extremely susceptible to mold and diseases. 😢😢

@@PrincetonMicrogreens Then figure out an Alternative solution, that's the point of Human advancement. I live in Massachusetts in a 115 year old Victorian home and grow 30 dense trays a week but using 15% more seed than you. Even Winter time it's no Problem it's always 74 degrees yearound down there and getting twice the yield I see " Professionals " doing. Just sayin.. keep evolving ideas.
