Thanks Craig, that's a very informative video. I'd had trouble getting my Brugmansia to flower now but now see that I'd underestimated their need for feed.

I grow lots of these they are so simple also if you take your cutting just below the y. You will have a short plant that still flowers

Is there a way to encourage branching or do you just let them do their own thing. I have small leaves growing in the crotch of the main stem and a large leaf. If I break that large leaf off will that form a branch?

I was given one (cutting) which I popped in the ground its about 6in tall now with a few paired leaves. My question is this. I want to place it in a pot. We are just entering autumn. Do I leave it in the ground through autumn/and winter ( we don't have terribly cold winters here maybe down to around 10 +/- deg C) or can I dig it up and place it in a pot now? Thanks

Ive put my brugmansia outdoors now. Its well watered and given fertiliser but the leaves seem to be more pale yellow than green, am i doung something wrong? 😢
@Daynation693 ай бұрын
Could be multiple issues. Yellowing leaves are usually a sign of overwatering or lack in nutrients. Id let it dry back a bit and the next time you do a heavy water add some balanced plant fertiliser and see if that will help it come back.
@susannaylor4513 ай бұрын
hi, I've been feeding with tomato fertiliser. Not sure if that's enough or if I should try something else. It's in a large container pot in corner of garden so gets sunshine, when we have it.

@@susannaylor451 sorry this is so late, but id suggest buying a fish fertiliser, (I prefer the Alaska brand) what’s nice about this is it won’t burn your plant so there’s no worry of over fertiliser. I don’t think it’s from lack of light but they do love the sunlight but for the most part are very tolerable in any lighting.

My brugmansia is doing very well but it drops most of its buds before they bloom. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Don’t let it dry out, and feed twice a week with a high phosphate fertiliser (liquid tomato feed). That should help.

How to know different between pink and white Brugmansia leaves?
@RonnieWagner-m7n3 ай бұрын
my plant leaves are turning yellow and falling off. I've read it can be too much water or not enough water. Any way to figure this out? The plant was in a pot I thought might have been too small so I transplanted it into a bigger pot and added granular organic fertilizer in the dirt. Not quite sure what else to do.
@GrowParadise3 ай бұрын
Brugmansia need LOTS of feeding, preferably twice a week. The leaves will quickly turn yellow if it is under fed.

I have pink and yellow plants which grow ingrown, i live in Atlanta, GA. Both plants bloom very well and I agree with the information in your video. My current plants are propagated by cuttings rooted in water indoors over winter. I have never seen seed pods develop on my plants and my garden has many pollinators, so I don't believe that is my situation. Do you have any clues that help with my lack of seed pods? Thanks
@pwva46353 ай бұрын
Hey, do you have any cuttings for sale (both pink and yellow). I’m in Virginia, but I’m from Georgia as well. 😊I lived in Atlanta for a decade prior to moving up here. I first saw this plant in Canada a couple weeks ago and have been fascinated ever since.

How do I remove spent flowers? Do I just remove the white flower, or do I also remove the green part from which the flower grows?
@GrowParadise3 ай бұрын
Removing the green part will help put more energy into new flowers rather than allowing seed pods to develop :D

What can I do to have flowers? I had Brugmansias before and never had this issue. The plant itself looks really healthy. Any ideas?

Thanks for this video (as with your other drug videos). I've got four and have tried them planted in the ground this year for the first time (two in the glasshouse border and two in the garden). They have grown big and two have flowered well. I know I will have to dig up in the next couple of months and put in the heated glasshouse but I think they will take a hard prune before digging up.

My brugmansia sanguinea has been in the ground for 4 years now and comes back and flowers every year. Even a couple of years ago after being buried under snow for a week. Of course it’s cut back to the ground but it seems to be root hardy with a couple of bags of compost piled on it.

This year I kept mine in the tire towers (tires provide extra heat and protection during the winter and also discourage wildlife and insects) over the winter. I also wrapped them in cuttings from a solar blanket - like the one we use for our koi pond. I'm anxious to see if they make it and come back in the spring. Fingers crossed because the plants were beautiful. It was my first year growing them.

@GrowParadise thank you. I was given a cutting from a friend so didn't have a clue what to do as it was going into October. So I kept it in my mini greenhouse which at the time was indoors. I've potted up the cutting which is about 12inches high and full of leaves. Your video has helped me understand the plant more now 👍😊

How would you overwinter the cutting? With them being young would they need to be kept in growth in a propagator or just frost free with the foliage left on. Dont think ive been feeding mine enough😢😢😢

If you want to keep it actively growing then keep it in a well lit and heated propagator. Otherwise you can treat it the same as the semi-dormant parent once it has become well rooted. 👍
