How big is your plant? If it is only few inches then its normal to have one tiny branch. Its the stem is woody thick with few feets then you should be getting multiple branches.

You are absolutely correct. I only got one single branch. My tree is 2 feet high and the cut place was not woody. May be i should prune after 6 months to one year.

Let it grow until next spring and then prune it in the middle of March. It should grow thicker by then.

Excellent material with great instructions. My plant is under stress, lost all leaves and now started growing slowly. Young leaves still show stress, turning yellow at sides. Plant is getting enough sunshine, growing in a large pot, in southern Texas weather. Thanks for providing great tips.

Glad it was helpful! Did you prune it during spring? Try adding some organic fertilizer which is rich in nitrogen. You can search for blood meal in amazon.

Just WOW! Your curry leaf plants are so beautiful. I am in zone 8b and am buying a 6 inch curry leaf plant. It is dull, cloudy and rainy here, so am planning to use a container and keep it indoors. I am planning to keep it inside the patio door so that it gets light. Also, since repotting is a very difficult and delicate process, can I just plant this 6” plant in a big container now itself (so that I don’t have to repot it later)? Do you have any tips for this climate ?

6 inches is a very small Plant. You can pinch the top most part where you see new leafs emerging. You can pinch with your finger nails as it is a baby plant. Remove 2-3 cms not more than that. It grows from seeds as well. But if your curry leaf is a runner type then seeds will not work out. If your tree is a single branch tree with no babies then seeds will work.

Is your plant in pot or ground? If its in pot try moving to location where you get atleast 4-6 hrs sunlight. During freeze warning, you can move it inside the house. If its in the ground, during freeze you can cover the plant with any cloth(old bedspread). Hope this info help.

I have a curry tree about a good 8-10 feet tall. My maali completely cut all branches in the lower half of the growth a few months ago. Now I'm watering it and there are new green branches...just 3-4 early stage ones...should i cut of the top part? Will it grow more branches?

As your tree is 8-10 feet I would recommend pruning as often for more vigorous growth. I have the habit of trimming at least 25% of the tree every time when I get chance to meet friends so I can distribute to them.
