Thank you, Linny and Sumi! I have been nurturing one curry plant (and one baby!) for the last 10 years here in the harsh conditions in the midwestern U.S., and I learned a lot from your excellent presentation on how I could extend their life. Mine has gotten rather spindly and a bit barren from over grazing this past winter😊. I have been rather nervous about pruning , but maybe now I will give it a shot!

I appreciate you ladies and all that you are sharing. Linny clearly knows her stuff and is an impressive grower, not only of curry tree plants, but many other plants as well. However, I hope to clarify a single point. Since the two of you are showing the actual products used, then I trust that Linny simply mis-spoke when she refers to vermiculite as worm castings. These are two very separate things that in part, serve the same purpose. However, the difference is that worm castings are worm poo and serve as fertilizer, as well as a soil amendment. Vermiculite is a soil amendment that is particularly effective at retaining moisture, but it is not a fertilizer per se.

So true about curry leaf plant being sensitive. One night in Hawaii, temperature went down to 56°F and it stopped growing, and leaves turned yellow and dropped. It looked dead for many months, but it wasn't. After hard pruning, it sent up tiny shoots!

Will they survive cold temperatures and come back in spring if it is 40F minus at the coldest day?

I live in Toronto and I am wondering about whether I should try to grow a Curry plant in my south facing condo with big 9ft windows where everything grows like crazy. I take some of my plants out on my balcony in the summer and they are doing great. I see many small healthy looking Curry plants for sale on Face Book’s Market Place and I am Temped to buy one but not sure if I should. I don’t want it for the leafs in my cooking. I don’t cook much. I mostly want it for the flower fragrance, so how long do the flowers last for? I am also hesitant about the bug infestation which happens quite often in my place. It sounds like the Curry plant is as susceptible as a citrus plant which is a struggle to keep it bug free.

Hello Ladies! Such a lovely video! I am so glad I bumped into your channel. I had a couple of questions if you are able to answer. Can you explain what different varieties of curry plant are out there? How to distinguish them? I know of two varieties, one that bear seeds, the other that bear saplings. The transplant you showed was the baby (sapling) kind, I have the seed bearing kind. There is also a gamthi kind. Do you have any of that by chance? Also, my tree somehow isn’t producing berries since two years. Any advice? I live in Toronto, and my plant has always been indoors. I changed soil and it has plenty of room in the pot. I am not sure why it won’t flower or bear fruit? I appreciate your lovely class on curry leaf care and tips. Kindly share propagation through seeds.♥️

I'm learning a lot from your video. Cape Town in South Africa's weather sounds similar to yours ... windy and wet in winter and dry hot windy summers ... so my curry leave is a sight for sore eyes. I've tried the buttermilk and rice water but I was using it neat ... I realize my mistake now. My question is ... by how much do I water down the buttermilk and how often do I use it? By how much do I water down the rice water and how often do I use it? Can I use both together? If I can't use them together, then how often should I use either one?

Sorry to hear that you lost your curry plant babies. I’m glad that you’re able to get new ones. Here are few of my rule of thumb that I follow. 1. If temp outside drops to 55 * then it’s best to keep in a green house or some where the temperature is above 60*. 2. Water always from the bottom never from the top. Put a plate under your pot and pour water there. We don’t want to have excess water for bugs to lay eggs or fungus gnats. Water only once a week during winter. 3. Use neem oil in case if you find any bugs. Having a spray bottle with dish washing solution mixed with water will help prevent any insects. 4. Repot in the month of May. Closer to Mother’s Day or earth day. 5. Have good UV lights..

@CurryTV2 жыл бұрын
We recommend that you wait till the weather is warmer than right now in the NW. To me late spring to early summer is best. If I have to choose a month I would go with June! You haven’t mentioned where you are living but if the temperature is around late 60s during the day and above 50s at night then that’s the time for pruning. Hope this helps.
