Nice looking carrots! Thanks for these seed to harvest videos! Funny story… when my son was about 10 years old I sent him to the “carrot” patch to get a few carrots for lunch. He was gone quite a while, so I went to see what was taking him so long… he had pulled up my entire 4 ft by 6ft raised bed of carrots! Thankfully they were ready for harvest! But… I spent the rest of the afternoon preserving the carrots! My son is now 49 years old! Father to 13 children, 7 of them are adopted. How time flies! Might just try growing some carrots in a bucket this winter.

Great video. If you cover the seeds they won't dry out as easily and you won't have to check them multiple times a day. In the bucket just use the lid. In the ground I use old fertilizer/soil bags with a weight on top. Carrots take at least 7 days to germinate so you can keep them covered for 6 days then remove the cover each morning and take a peek.

@@cynthiafisher9907 that’s the way I feel. I love to learn and though I’ve been gardening for over 35 years I feel like I’ve barely touched the surface of what there is to know. I have such respect for Mr. Hollis because of his experience which we all know is the best teacher and the fact that he gives credit to the Lord for everything. I’m taking these classes because I’m going blind with a rare eye disease and already am legally blind. This was one of the things I wanted to do so I can help others before I’m totally blind. Absolutely love that you have ministered to a small child (and adults) to show you can plant something no matter what your living circumstances are! I also appreciate Nancy showing us how she takes the harvest to the table. I’m not crazy about eating carrots (the only vegetable I dislike) but I’m going to try her way to roast them. I ferment our carrots in salt brine and I especially do like the taste of them. I’m going to check out Johnny’s seed company because I like the pellet carrot seeds. I too don’t like “ thinning” as I think it is a waste of seed. When is the best month to plant carrot seeds? I live in Upstate of South Carolina. Thank you for all you do to help us learn to grow! 😊

I’ll try this next year. I did potatoes this year in buckets, but they’re not quite ready to harvest.

Same, I planted 6 buckets of potatoes. I think I’d rather try the carrots using the same pails next year.

hollis….love your videos! can I ask….what do you do with the left over soil after harvesting? can you reuse it? does it need to be amended? Blessings to you and Nancy❤

He has an older video before they moved to Florida, where he showed he did indeed save and reuse his container soil. He has/had a large bin and mixed all the container would together, then when he wants to reuse it, he re-amends it with manure

God Bless you and your family! In these days of evil rising and our government and institutions attempting to instill hate control and destruction to all that is good or true (God) your presence is is just another small light that good, loving and oppressed Christians can gather to stay warm, if not just a moment, from your light. My family and friends thank you and pray for you, your family, this nation and our world. God Bless. your bravery!

Thank you for making this video! I know that it takes a lot of work for you guys to make a video each time, so thank you for your hard work. I really appreciate you guys showing us from beginning to end. A lot of gardeners on KZbin sometimes tends to skip the harvesting part. I love seeing the results to the fruit of your labor.

My husband and I love your channel, and have been watching you since the days in the close house to house neighborhood. Love the 5 gallon episodes. I now have a heart condition because of a bad COVID infection and my husband was on a ventilator for more than 3 months because of COVID and will be on oxygen the rest of his life. The Good Lord restored him to us. If not for the prayers of so many around the world and God’s good graces he would not be here today. We have had to start switching our ‘our in the yard’ ground level gardens, to more raised beds. That is proving to be expensive so we are trying containers for now until we can get more raised bed area to plant. You all are a blessing, and even if we only get a few buckets planted, just the fellowship of your videos helps heal the heart! Thank you both ❤
