Check out this video of planting chili pepper using only 100% cocopeat.
For the fertilizer , I use a complete AB fertilizer
For the fertilizer stock solution , I am using 100mls as calculation reference.
1) add 15 mls of the YARA calcinit (calcium nitrate) to 100 mls of warm water. This dissolves in the water. I then use this as my stock solution A.
2)15mls of YARA Kristalon Red NPK 12-12-36 + 7.5 mls of epsom salts in 100 mls water. This dissolves in the water and use as my stock solution B
3) Dilute equal part of A and B to get the initial reading of EC 1.2. Every week increase the EC 0.2 until reach the maximum EC2.5 and maintain until end of the season.
The pump is set to 5x per day , starting with morning 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Each time run about 1 to 2 mins depending on your pump size. The total volume per day for each bag is around 600ml when first transplant and increase the volume as the plants grow. When the plants fully mature, it need at least 1.2 to 1.5 litter per plant everyday. You may need to adjust accordingly , depends on your location weather as well.
Happy Gardening!!

Hi, I'm new to hydroponics and just got a EC meter. What is the unit you're using as mine is uS/cm. Thanks for the awesome video.
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration Жыл бұрын
Mine is in mS/cm. If you are serious and want to be successful in hydroponics or fergitation, you must be able to calculate each element to the exact ppm...beside this general EC unit. One recommendation I suggest is you Google the hydrobuddy software...and you start to play around with the element in ppm. That means you need to mix your own fertilizer to target specific crop at specific growing stages. I never do this type of video , because it is hard to explain and too technical...the Yara I use in this video will work as well, for hobbyists scale. At my farm, i mix mine own because it is not economical

Hello! May i know how long the trees bore fruits for? Eg. Your video mentioned a peak harvest at 120 days. How long till the tree started to significantly slow down in production and in a commercial sense, would require you to do a replanting? Thank you!
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration 8 ай бұрын
Sorry I missed out your comments. Commercial sense, very very much dependents on many factors. I use to owned a chili farm, so statistics for very experienced farmers, 2.5kg per plant is the over the range for 6 months. So after peak, u can continue to harvest untill day 180..BUT....BUT...here the catch....the total production will drop if pest management not on tip top condition. What I show here is gardening scale, which I can take care very very good. Farm management is completely different scale. You need many man power. After 180 days...need to replanting again. 2 season per year

Thank you so much for your response and your willingness to share! I myself am an aspiring farmer in Malaysia haha. We plan to grow chillies in a hybrid setting. Both outdoors and indoors (greenhouses). Have you had any experience growing chillies in greenhouses? And is the pest/disease management easier? Also, I've come across a few articles and videos suggesting that you can revive "dead" or non-fruiting chilli plants through intense pruning and root trimming with root boosters. Have you any experience doing so? Sorry bout the many questions! Just seeking all the advice I can get. Thank you!

How did you calculate the water requirement? And as there is no leaching seen did you ever experience problem of salt accumulation in cocopeat?
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration 2 жыл бұрын
Good question...im using the general fertilizer Yara kristalon which have mentioned in my description...if you want the exact ppm of each elements, I have a formula for the mix..which is not economical for home garden unless u operate at farm level. Salt accumulation is possible...but when I planted these, it was raining season. If u have a greenhouse, the best is 6 day of fertilizer n one day of normal water to avoid salt accumulation

bro. ask question. will the cocopeat dry out fast? because you said the pump will Only run for 2 mins in the 8am then after 2 mins the pump turn off. and turn on again at 10am, there is 2 hours gap, then the cocopeat possible will dry?
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration 2 жыл бұрын
It will not dry out but you have to observe based in your location, your polybag size ,yr pump . Generally ,the first few weeks not very much concern because the plant small. 2 min is more than sufficient....you slowly increase as the plants grow

Hi sir may I know if plant cantolope also musk 100%cocopeat but cocopeat do not have nutrition why is it not soil
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration 2 жыл бұрын
the reason is simple....cocopeat have the correct pH, can hold the water and still maintain aerated. Mostly we use 100% cocopeat in fertigation system. If you use AB nutrient fertilizer, you can literally mix the nutrient solution that very specific for cantaloupe for different growing stage. You need to calculate the nutrient of the 13 elements (N,P, K, Mg,Ca, S, Fe....etc), and feed into the cocopeat... the same calculation apply to the hydroponic as well. If you are new to this..go download the hydrobuddy v1.98 calculator. The soil on other hand is not economical if growing cantaloupe in a commercial. The cocopeat is way cheaper , much easier for setup because lighter and the most important the soil born disease can be eliminated...and cocopeat can be reuse for a few season as well....if you are on gardening scale, normal gardening soil will works. You don't have to use cocopeat 100%. The chili I use 100% cocopeat because that is leftover from mine chili farm ...and i try to show the simple way to viewer is possible to grow crop using 100% cocopeat

What ppm/ec for veg time? And what ppm/ec for flower time? Or does it stay the same for all its life? I am growing peppers and other vegetables/fruits for the first time, i live in colder temperatures so im going to start the plants inside with 4x4 rockwool cube and once i start seeing signs of flower i will transplant into coco coir perlite 70/30 and leave outside.
@TonysExploration
@TonysExploration 3 ай бұрын
You can check out the description on the fertilizer I used. I have listed there including how much EC I used throughout the growing stage. Peppers are a bit challenging and require more precise fertilizer. At this video, i using Yara Kristalion fertilizer, this would be good enough for home gardening. I also have a pepper farm, which I use to mix all the fertilizer elements by myself , and target each element PPM accordingly to the growth rate. That is completely a new chapter , and would be very very hard to explain here.

@@TonysExploration are you running C02 at any stage? I was thinking 800ppm c02 early stages and increasing to 1200 ppm c02.

Normal middle size aquarium pump will do... if you just have a few meters pipe with few polybags..no need particular as long as can pump water . If you are talking about 1 thousands polybags in farm .then at least 1hp needed.
