But my father made a great point and so did my RA on campus no sin is greater than another. As a Christian I realize to draw others to Christ we have to seek God first ourselves and allow His light to shine through us. Just got home from bible study tonight and felt that I needed more encouragement on how to seek God's face more and how to connect with Him at a deeper level. How do you increase your desire to grow with/in God? I want to get baptized but I need to make sure He is a priority before I do. I want to be with Him, I don’t want to go to Hell, and I’m scared that if I don’t change things now I’ll just keep waiting... also, I think being closer to Him would make me a better person.

Hey Stephanie, I think that you should consider what you listen to and ask "is this glorifying Christ?" "Why do I listen to this?" So when I first became a Christian, I didn't desire to listen to anything secular except for a few artists that spoke about love, strong families, etc. I still do not listen to secular music that much, but I will listen here and there. It depends on what the Holy Spirit says to you. Before, I was super convicted by it, but now as I'm growing, I can listen to secular music at times. Always be mindful to guard your heart. If you're listening to music that's promoting hate, violence, drug abuse, or abuse of people, that's going against the Word ofGod.

i really don't think it's a sin to listen to it. The problem comes from certain types of lyrics that go against what the bible teaches (i.e. shooting, sex with lots of different people etc), and you may not realise it but subconsciously the messages start to implant themselves in your brain, and you start to get used to a negative sort of thinking, if you know what I mean? Plus, there are plenty of secular music that is positive and fun and uplifting. Just try to avoid the ones all about sex and drinking and killing and things like that. I love you by the way my sister in Christ and good luck in your journey! I'm really proud of you! Us christian sisters have got to stick together :D

Thanks for the encouragement :) love what you were talking about in the end. It's so true that we were created to know God and live from a place of knowing him. Becoming one with Him and become love because God is love and we love others and they want to know more about God and we shine as lights. We are transformed by our intimacy with Him. Jesus died to remove our sin and expose our value because we were created to be sons and daughters of God.
