Maybe I'm just building on what LizAntoinette has already said but some things that might be helpful (maybe more to some people than others): Memorize a verse a week. After you have done that for a few years, go back and read each of the verses you have memorized but, this time each verse in its context to see whether there is something else in the previous verse or the following verse (or both) that you might want to memorize along with the verse you have already learned. Try reading a passage (one story or one chapter) to a child. If no child is available, try to imagine your favorite doll (ore even your favorite pillow) is someone about eight years old and try to read the passage in a way that would be easy for that child to understand. I'm not sure how much is gained by reading Genesis as if it were some crazy novel but I read Genesis (and most of the rest of the stories in the Bible) trying to imagine how I might have responded in the situation if I were one of the people in the story. Was Eve, for example, being invited or urged to covet for herself prerogatives that belong to the creator alone?

I need Christian friends, so I really gotta go to Church. I learned today that crying is cleansing for the spirit, so I feel really bad that crying has always been taken as a weakness, the one thing that we actually need to make us more aware of where we are and out state. It's so sad :(. If there's one need to do is go to church, but I need to find myself a good church.

Pray to the Lord and ask for guidance. Let the Lord lead you to the church family he wants for you. Crying is very cleansing. I cry and laugh to my Father daily.

wow, that's beautiful, I wish people at the churches I've been to would be more friendly and genuine and not so robotic, but I've seen a variety so I know I will find what I am looking for eventually. When you see no tears in a church, that says so much.. smh

We are all made in God's image. How can we ask him to love, accept, forgive, keep, and cherish us if, we are unwilling to do the same for each other. Peace and Blessings

praying that God sends you Godly Friends encouraging friends and will also give you a good church to go to. praying that you will grow closer to God. God see's you're desire and he will bless, ask and ye shall receive. i don't have very many friends neither but we have a friend in God closer than any brother and he will love us with all his heart and he will always be faithful to us. hang in there serve God the best way you know to and he will bless. and also praying that God will give you guidance and to lighten you're path.

Nice. I personally wouldn't use the NLT because it's pretty paraphrased, but these are some good tips! Using a literal version as well as a thought for thought - I totally agree with that. I like the reading vs. studying distinction and the tips to resist highlighting at first. Thank you for your encouragement about prayer too! Thanks and God bless.

Wow that is nice. I should've gone to a Christian school. I wish my parents would have been religious, but that's okay, I can just incorporate it into my life from now on. You are so pretty btw. This is super nice and organized. I've never been the highlighter type but with the bible, that'll definitely make it helpful.

Surprisingly, I didn't learn the fundamentals from a Christian school. I went to a secular school, Howard University, for undergrad. These tips I developed over time and with help from other people. The difference is that now I'm learning how to go deeper in biblical study, the correct way. So don't be discouraged!

VERY helpful! I use to do the S.O.A.P method, which is a good basic, but then I found myself running to God about certain specifics for things going on in my life. I drifted away from straight up "S.O.A.P" journaling and just kept a prayer journal talking w/ God, then googling/BibleHub scripture that applied to the situation. It's been a long 6yrs since I've done S.O.A.P or any set study method, and I noticed something wrong.. I've only been seeking God at the moment I needed something, instead of continually growing in Wisdom. I basically made my relationship w/ God into a 911*God situation. Now I'm asking the Holy Spirit to show me how to daily study His word again. This vid is very helpful! ~Abigail Brown, 21yrs old.

did ya'll notice that when she was talking about" reading you're bible out loud " that when she said faith come by hearing and hearing by the word of God it got kinda faded out . also she said hearing brings faith.
@LizAntoinette7 жыл бұрын
Lol I kinda did that on purpose so if people were listening to this idly they would think they missed something and would have to rewind it and truly listen. You're the only person that caught that! But yes, like Romans 1017 declares, faith comes through hearing, and hearing through the Word of God! So listening to the Bible, hearing testimonies, all that strengthens your faith!
