What a great, clear, concise tutorial! I just got my seeds from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, but I saved your everwilde link since I'm from Wisconsin :) even though I live in central florida. I'm going to try the grow once and harvest method, and the cut and come again method, to see what works in my windowsill. I have four huge organic beds outside, and just want something nutritious, quick, and well, non-labor intensive like my other crops. I've got no greens at all now, and miss them terribly. Watercress seems like a super-nutritious option to grow indoors where it's kinda sorta almost cool-ish. Thanks for the very best video - I'll check out your others, too.

This and chickpeas was the first thing we learned to grow at school. Been years since I had it but on a cracker with soft cheese and cue, bloody delish. A tub is just 25p a large box is 70p. Imo it's a great looking little plant, I used it in a rockery. No sowing no care, just tossed the seeds and watered 3 times a week.

When you say covering with Aluminum foil what do you mean by cut ? Do we make holes ?
@secretzombie39763 жыл бұрын
No holes. In this case the purpose of aluminum foil is to block out all light and is used only temporarily untill adequate germination. This process can be achieved with other methods and means. With the goal of blocking out light.

What's your reasoning for not liking to grow in a hydroponic grow medium?

I prefer soil because I grow my micros a bit longer than most, and they start to actually pull nutrition from the soil. I'd rather not supplement with hydroponic nutrients when soil does just fine!

How to grow common cress and can we regrow them somehow and how
@benniiee1234 жыл бұрын
Hi I'm having trouble growing my Cress microgreens. The roots keep growing above the soil rather than down into the soil and my cress germinates lying down rather than growing upwards. The cress seeds are also very gel like and keep sticking to each other thus when germinating the stems all get matted and stuck to each other. How do I fix this?

I don't think you can keep cress for 10 days. You'll end up with a bowl of green slime.
@whateverwhatever32494 жыл бұрын
That however is not water cress, its garden cress (a different type), it does not contain the same nutrients of watercress. I do grow both garden and watercress, but while garden cress its easy and fast, watercress is quite complicated. It is very fragile while young.
@MichaelBrown-kk6ck4 жыл бұрын
When you talk of planting so many ounces of seeds is that volume or weight?
@return2earthvideochannel4 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right, OUNCES are confusing. In Europe the terminology is more sensible: Volume = Millilitres and Litres, Weight = Grams and Kilos. One day, America will maybe standardise to the European protocol for these two measurements which will avoid any confusion!
@FlashToso4 жыл бұрын
What variety of cress? Upland cress (Barbarea verna) is not watercress (Nasturtium Officinale). Looks like Upland cress. Paper towel between seeds & soil can reduce soil contamination when harvesting.
