Great video, keep up the good work. I grew Aubergines for the first time last year, found a really good tip for making the plant stronger and increasing the yield of fruit. Just by removing the growing tip after the plant has 2 - 3 sets of leaves makes the stem more sturdy and the plant bushier. I've done this with Pepper plants too and it makes for an overall stronger and more productive plant.

I bought few aubergines here in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, I took out some seeds, dried them for few days. Then store them for a couple of weeks, I then sowed some of the seeds, they are already germinating now, I am so excited to see them growing before I transplant them.

Planted out seeds 6 weeks ago, now they are nice and tall and strong. I’m so happy anticipating the end result, the flowers are a bonus of course 😉 I just left mine on the window sills as we have plenty of sun in the morning and they’re doing so well, watering every other day as the soil does dry out. Thank you

The first time I grew aubergines I had a multi variety pack of seeds. Just put them in the garden in the soil and got the best crop ever. Now I do it all carefully and keep them in a greenhouse and the crops aren’t always wonderful! Love hearing the birds in the background to your videos .

I love that you took the time to acknowledge your subscribers from other countries like India. I also love that you took to time to acknowledge the different names for eggplant around the world. Bravo. We are a global community - I see that as a strength because we can share information and experiences. Illegal to collect rainwater in some states? Is it also illegal to breathe oxygen there without prepaying tariffs?🤔
@Savvysalli4 жыл бұрын
I just love your videos, I I'm learning lots! So I thought that I'd give back a little! When potting on/up I always soak the plant for about 30mins to 1hr as this also helps with transplant shock. Second, when tying stems to canes/trellis etc using a twisted figure of 8 means that any windrock doesn't cause the stem to rub on the cane. Loop around stem, cross over twice and tie around cane - this ensures that there is as little opportunity for rubbing as possible.

I agree! I'm considering planting them in the front yard this year, up against the house where a shrub would normally be. The purple stems and veining contrasting with the dark green foliage is just beautiful! I'm not sure this is typical "edible landscaping," but I don't care, haha! It should look nice with my Moonshadow Hyacinth bean vining up and around the front porch.

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I looked and looked and only found videos on how to care for eggplants already started, until yours came up. So glad it did! About 2-3 weeks ago I planted 5 Rosita variety, 4 of which have sprouted, and 10 Casper variety, none of which have sprouted. I'm very disappointed, as they are the ones I was looking forward to the most. I think they may have dropped too deep into the hole in my soil block. I'm really not sure, but they should be up by now. I'll put another 2 seeds in the blocks, making sure they're shallow, and cover with vermiculite. Is this the right move?? They're in a pop-up greenhouse indoors by a south-facing window. Plenty of heat and moisture.
@ProjectDiaries6 жыл бұрын
You don't really need to waste the vermiculite at this point but yep. Try not to bury them too deep or they may not germinate. Good luck :)
@lisakukla4596 жыл бұрын
Project Diaries Its been a week since I replanted. I put 2 seeds in each of the 10 soil blocks, making sure they stayed shallow. I've kept them in the greenhouse and monitored the temperature and humidity. Both stay between 70-80. I certainly don't need more than 3 plants, but I was hoping to have extras as backups and hopefully, ultimately giveaways. I'll give it another week, but at this point I'm really disappointed. My seeds came from Baker Creek, and the reviews showed good germination rates. I don't know what's gone wrong. I'll really have to baby the three that I have. Thanks again for all your help!

A friend gave me a couple of eggplants thirty years ago. They were a large variety of green eggplant. A couple of years back I lost the seed and no one could identify the variety. I even sent a picture to several nurseries, of one eggplant sitting on the counter next to a gallon milk jug and the eggplant is about the same size as the gallon container. This year I've ordered some giant asian green eggplant seeds and hope they are similar. They always made lots of fruit and not one was ever bitter whether I picked them small or very large.

Many of us do not know how the flowers does look like. Aubergines, potatoes, tomatoes, tomatillo and physalis belongs to the night shade family, and if one take a look, you will be surprised of how pretty the flowers are. Some times it is just a question of being bothered to crouch 😊😊😊😊😊. This is just some plants that has beautifully flowers. Cukes and melon is another family.

Like your homemade milk container tools very creative. Curious if one was to do different type eggplants growing. How much eggplants should he expect to get on one plant thru out the year? Like is it more like 1 plant to 1 eggplant yield or is it a one to many type yield??? Also do you find the size of the eggplant is better if using store bought seed packages vs extracting the seed directly from old epplants you havent eaten ???
@NikovaIlievaMoni Жыл бұрын
Following. That will be interesting to know. I have just bought some seeds and was wondering if they will grow as well as the freshly harvested
