Nice video. How long can you keep seeds before they go bad? I tried for the first time to grow micros with a small tray and a silicone mat and in a few day I could see mold on the tray. Plus it took more than a few days to end see any roots. Do you think it could be because of old seeds?
@HomegrownPassion
@HomegrownPassion 10 ай бұрын
I have micro green seeds that are over 3 years old, and they still sprout. I just keep all my seeds in my mini seed refrigerator. Mold is not from seeds... it is a result of bad air flow or really contaminated environment. Increase airflow and it should help decrease mold growth but watch that your seeds don't dry out...may have to water more.
@jmajick4415

Have you tried using shallow trays? They are so much easier to harvest from. They are also very sturdy so you can carry a full tray with one hand most of the time. They cost just a little more but they'll out last those standard size trays. I also use some H2O2 in my plain water spray before the seeds open. The H2O2 kills mold and bacteria and helps open the seed hulls. I use coco coir for the medium since it is cheaper and I throw the waste into a compost pile

We had so many inquiries on how to grow them in your home that we thought we would show you the home method. For us we still grow in the NFT Channels and would say if you have a NFT system.... it's much easier because you don't have to water, and the greenhouse provides enough light.

@@tanydamely702 she showed it in the last video but she has water running from tge start but she crimped the hose so it wasn't running full on. Said that until they put down roots the higher water flow would wash them down the tray so she crimps it to only dribble once it roots in then it can take the higher flow. Hope this helps.

LED lights did not contribute to a significant increase in electrical bill. The upfront expense was high but hopefully we are getting the benefit on the backside and more production.

Thank you for this very helpful video. I paused it when I got to the part about the grow light. It really is starting to make me crazy that we can't buy anything that isn't bluetooth or wifi-enabled. My hubby and I were shopping for a new grill a few weeks ago, and I was flabbergasted to see wifi-enabled grills, of all things. WHY??? We can't get away from being bombarded by harmful waves. Get ready to watch people drop when they crank up the higher Generation cell signals (5+). They are frying us, intentionally. It is well-documented they are using frequency to manipulate us. Cell phones are the worst. These harmful frequencies negatively affect not only us, they affect all living things, including plants and animals. It's bad enough they are poisoning our food and water, and spraying us like we are bugs. We are doing the best we can to protect ourselves, eat right, exercise, take detox supplements, etc, we can't get away from it. It is NOT a good thing. I am trying to educate people, and want them to put the cell phones down. Sorry for the rant. It's a very sensitive subject and people need to wake up. I do appreciate your video, it is super helpful. We are praying for the people of Ohio and for our country, and our world. For humanity. 💚

Hi, My name is Donato from Melbourne, Australia. I have a hydroponic setup. I have buit 2x glass houses, LHS NFT Autopots. My question is , why? Why am Not producing tomatoes well. I have them in Autopots, they grow well , fruit is minimal and very front heavy. I have them all stung from the time I plant the seedlings.. Not holding just bulk out in with not in height. San Marzano Tomatoes. I have tried 3 years in the row, with very poor success. I have spent alot of money, setup, seedlings and all with minimal return. I am annoyed.. I want this to work but getting beaten... Not sure why. Is ther a better system to grow tomatoes, broad beans, cucumber, butter beans etc... The other side LHS I grow lettuce and herbs.... this side has done alright, last 2x times nothing.... I think the seeds have expired. Well I hope so... thrown all out and got fresh ones. I see you grow all different produce in different ways, even grow bags. Can Potatoes, Horseradish and Garlic be grown Hydroponically as well? I really want to succeed but seem to be beaten. My glass houses are 5 metres long, 2 metres wide and just under 3 metres high Please help and Thank you.

On the cilantro seeds a different microgreen video said to lightly crush the seeds as it is actually 2 seeds in one little ball just enough to crack but not smush. I know my grandfather used to have me use a rolling pin on beet and Swiss chard seeds to crack the dried fruit case as its a tiny berry with several seeds in one berry. Byt again its just to crack the case.

Ive also been growing out several adult plants of my favorite microgreens out in my garden in the summer. Like the red Japanese mustard and of course the broccoli (which loves to bolt to seed when you're not looking) and onions. Onion sprouts or micro greens are a house hold favorite. I often use my left over mushroom boxes and yakisoba trays to make microgreens for just the 2 of us. I just use an ice pick heated up to make drain holes in one tray and set them in the one without holes. I grow a fair amount of wheat grass for my cats and chickens as they all love to chew it. The chickens also love sprouted popcorn and sprouted sunflower seeds. Just the black oil ones I buy to feed the birds in winter. But those are prone to spots of mold no matter what I do so I usually let them grow into micro greens and clip for the chickens Its shocking how sweet the sprouted popcorn is. Like hurt your teeth sweet. Lol
