I love watching the storms too. My office was closed 2 days because of the hurricane here in SW Florida.

Just talked to your mother at the Fall Garden Festival in Alabama. She told me about your gardening channel. I did watch your camping channel but haven’t seen any this year so I’m glad that there a new channel to watch. 🤟🏼

Great video! I always use cow panels to grow zipper cream peas - it works great. This way picking peas is a breeze, no bending over! This spring we put 12 quart bags of peas in the freezer from a 16 foot row of peas. Take care...

Hopefully the corn will right itself. I don't think you'll have to worry about the fig trees, they should right themselves in a few days.

I have found that "T's" on the end T-Posts will let you run the piping through and will prevent fall out.

That might have helped if I had about 4" or more sticking out the end of each tee. Those 30-40 mph winds had those cukes swinging back and forth pretty good.

That's how I knew my hubby was the man for me....when I found out that he loved watching The Weather Channel as much as I did! :) Glad you guys made it through the storm ok. I like both the trellis and the arch, but the trellis is the only one I would have enough garden space for.

So glad you did not sustain much damage from Hurricane Idalia. The hanging trellis is a good idea and looks like it should work well. Thanks for the suggestion! 😁. Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA - 9/8/2023.

We have five foot 2X4 wire mesh that we use for our peas/beans. Been watching you and the Hortanova mesh. Planning on doing more trellises next Spring. So that is now on our to buy list. Yes, the list that always seems to grow and never go away. As always Thank You for another fun and informative video!

At around a quarter a foot, I haven't found it's worth it to try and save it. I guess you could though. We usually just toss it at the end of the growout.

What do you use when insects are eating up your peas and beans once you plant them into the ground?

Depends on what the pest is. If it's pea curculio (which we get alot down here), there's really nothing you can do.

It might be time that you start bee herding as part of your farming. I just taste-tested one of my first meads which is only 4.1% ABV and it is super refreshing. Sort of like drinking a slightly alcoholic Fresca given I used 'Scotch Broom' honey.

Thanks for the tip on the trellis, I'll pick some up in the spring. I've heard that sunflowers produce a chemical that acts as an herbicide. Ever had any issues planting so close to them?
@LazyDogFarm

Haven't had any issues. These peas germinated pretty fast and are looking good.
