If you use pop corn as a grain spawn you won’t even need a pressure cooker. Just steam bath the jars of corn for 2 hours. The substrate is just pasteurized in the bucket with hot water and adding the spawn doesn’t need to be in front of a flow hood. So it is a very easy relaxed method!

@MissBlackMetal6 ай бұрын
@@astbrnrd I'm a beginner too, but thinking about it, I'd presume that field capacity wouldn't be the same after the mycelium has started fruiting, and especially after harvesting. Mushrooms are 90% water, so if you've just harvested a bunch of mushrooms, that means the water that *was* in your substrate is now inside all those mushrooms. So if you want more mushrooms (i.e., another flush/harvest), you'll need to introduce much more water back into the substrate (i.e., rehydrate it by dunking/soaking). I hope this makes sense! 😊

@DasChristoff Жыл бұрын
@@wilkiedilkieagree 100%. In fact most tek methods don’t have enough fae which equals subpar results. I always try to replicate Mother Nature conditions for mushrooms as well as cannabis. Think about it: mushrooms grow outdoors, not confined in a box indoors. I create those same conditions regardless of the tek. High humidity, fresh O2 and temps similar to Mother Nature ie: high 70s day low 70s night. Led lighting on timers for day. Room humidity between 65-80%. Not everyone has a dedicated room for this but if you can you are in full control of the ambient environment. Even doing cakes in sgfc have huge yields when done in these rooms. @@tedkravos7129 the reasons I've heard for not spraying the mushrooms (or mycelium) directly are 1) because they are fragile and even the water droplets can bruise them, and 2) I think it was something about mushrooms will soak up water really fast, and too much water directly on them can increase contamination risk? Hey man I’m pretty new to this how did you get grain spawn in a jar ? What did you use I’ve only ever seen spawn bags is there a better of the two ?

Hi I have another question for you! Does this tub method need a specific environment like the greenhouse you built in your other video? Does it need regulated humidity and air exhaust? If I plan to do it in a basement where light is low should I get LED strips? Thank you so much for your response :)
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
You don’t need any grow tents or special environment, the tub provides the environment and you provide fresh air by fanning it 3-5 times per day and replenishing moisture on the top of the bin. Yes 1-2 LED strips in the basement is perfect.

Bruv do you spray the substrate with the water at all or just the top of the "dome" ?
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
I do mist the substrate a little bit and then fan it, the evaporation helps induce pinning. Once it starts pinning I only spray the top of the dome.

Dunk the substrate for four hours! Really, how do you do this? Would simple hydrating not be as good?
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
Just put it in a bucket of water with a plate and weight on top to keep it submerged. It allows the whole substrate to absorb maximum hydration. You could try to just spray some water on the surface I guess.
@JFH52 Жыл бұрын
You reply quickly! Do you lose substrate? Is it not over saturated?
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
@@JFH52 After the first harvest, the substrate is visibly shrunken and light weight. After dunking it returns to normal and you don’t loose any substrate. I’ve never had a problem with over hydrating, just don’t leave it in the bucket for longer than 6 hours or so.

@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
1-2 sprays on to the substrate and then fan it, spray dome 6-10 times to give it a coating of water droplets all around. Do that 3-5 times per day until pinning and then just stop spraying the substrate and only spray the dome each time. Yes tap water is fine.
