Although I now have 900 ml of culture 😂 and not sure what to do with it . I'm guessing it is for a specific species/strain? The chains I looked up had several variations. So nerdy in the best possible way 🤓 Love your channel, this is my 1st video, and I'm loving it. If you use pop corn as a grain spawn you won’t even need a pressure cooker. Just steam bath the jars of corn for 2 hours. The substrate is just pasteurized in the bucket with hot water and adding the spawn doesn’t need to be in front of a flow hood. So it is a very easy relaxed method!

@MissBlackMetal
@MissBlackMetal 8 ай бұрын
@@tedkravos7129 the reasons I've heard for not spraying the mushrooms (or mycelium) directly are 1) because they are fragile and even the water droplets can bruise them, and 2) I think it was something about mushrooms will soak up water really fast, and too much water directly on them can increase contamination risk? This one I'm not sure about. I think I heard that 1) is less of an issue if you use an ultra-fine mister. Don't quote me on 2) though cuz I'm really hazy on that one.

@SporenSprout
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
The lid is not a tight seal even when clicked into place. It is fine how it is for 6-10 days during colonization. You can add a couple holes to the lid and cover with tape and that’s fine too. The top tub is removed 3-5 times daily to fan and mist to replace the air and it works fine. You can add holes to the top bin if you want as well.

@@astbrnrd I'm a beginner too, but thinking about it, I'd presume that field capacity wouldn't be the same after the mycelium has started fruiting, and especially after harvesting. Mushrooms are 90% water, so if you've just harvested a bunch of mushrooms, that means the water that *was* in your substrate is now inside all those mushrooms. So if you want more mushrooms (i.e., another flush/harvest), you'll need to introduce much more water back into the substrate (i.e., rehydrate it by dunking/soaking). I hope this makes sense! 😊

Im on my very first grow snd i kinda went crazy. I bought a pressure cooker, spawn bags, injection ports adhesive and plugs. Also got everything to make agar and liquid cultures. I injected 5 quart jars with brown rice that i made using philly teacher's vid on KZbin. I also had a crap load of bird seed so i prepped and injected 5 jars of that. I also had 2 3lb grain bags that i have going as well. Everything is looking good so far but its only been a week or so. I was wondering how much spawn to substrate ratio I can get away with in a 18 by 14 inch monotub? I also have a bunch of 6 QT shoe boxes did I plan to use and that's what brought me here lol. Looks like I can get away with a 1 to 3 ratio judging by yours. But that may be strain dependent, not sure though. Thanks for all the help

Hi there! Really nice video man, I do have some questions tough: 1. Can I just put these type of dubs inside a martha tent with an humidifier at 80-85% humidity to avoid the dome lid and the spraying 3 times per day? 2. If so, do I need a FAE to avoid possible high CO2 levels inside the dubs? Thanks and I would appreciate any recommendations!

Yes, you can put them in a Martha tent without the dome tub. You could just open the tent a few times per day to fan them and that would be fine for FAE.

@@wilkiedilkieagree 100%. In fact most tek methods don’t have enough fae which equals subpar results. I always try to replicate Mother Nature conditions for mushrooms as well as cannabis. Think about it: mushrooms grow outdoors, not confined in a box indoors. I create those same conditions regardless of the tek. High humidity, fresh O2 and temps similar to Mother Nature ie: high 70s day low 70s night. Led lighting on timers for day. Room humidity between 65-80%. Not everyone has a dedicated room for this but if you can you are in full control of the ambient environment. Even doing cakes in sgfc have huge yields when done in these rooms. No matter what tek you do, always try to mimic the outdoor environment and maintaining those conditions. 😉

If you take some mycelium after a second flush and add it to fresh substrate, can you continue growing without needing to re-inoculate grain spawn? Moreover, can you explain briefly second flush? You said dunk in water for 4 hours. How exactly do you do that? Thanks. Good vid.
@SporenSprout

I’m sure you could do that but the chances of failure increase. It’s really easy, just pour water into the tub and allow the substrate to soak up the water for 1-2 hours and then dump the water out and start fruiting again. Or you can carefully remove the substrate block and dunk it in water for 1-2 hours.
