How long on average does the block need to completely dry out?
@hardstylestrengthАй бұрын
So, I fruited for the first time and got one large 4.4oz mushroom. Then to prepare for another flush I let it dry out for 10 days, rehydrated the block overnight, placed it in fruiting conditions and now, about a week and half into it, it’s producing more white mycelium over the browned. It’s like it’s starting all over. Is this normal, or what did I do wrong?

I’m new to mushroom growing but I think Shiitake can fruit over and over for months 😊.

This video is right on time! First time shitake grower, currently with 4 blocks started from LC. I recently opened one block thinking it was fully colonized as it is all white. Thank you for the video.

Always great!! Do you know by any chance if Pholiota nameko requires the same amount of mycelium-maturation? I've had blocks completely white, apparently ready to fruit but nothing seems to be happening. Thanks for all your videos!

Yes nameko take longer to fruit once fully colonized. They also benefit from a cold shock to trigger fruiting. I would throw them in a cold room or refrigerator for 1-2 days and then fruit them.

I just went through this process. I did not have to wait for browning for my blocks. They were fruiting inside the bag and it was all white. Granted, I left the blocks in boxes in my grow tent that was high in humidity during reishi fruiting conditions. I had the Shiitake in boxes so they wouldn't be exposed to light in the tent. I think the humidity might have triggered them to fruit early in the white phase of mycelium development. The fruits are coming in nice, though. This method might save time compared to letting the bags brown outside the humid tent like normal circumstances.

What is the wheat Bran percentage? What kind of hard wood?
@SporenSprout Жыл бұрын
I used 1 cup of wheat bran to a 5 pound substrate block. I use oak hard wood fuel pellets, Here’s the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5mqio2hhtd0kJI

What happens if your block turns all white but never brown after? I inoculated the AIO bag on 6/6 and it’s all white but no browning?

@@SporenSprout me again. One more question. After I take out of fridge do I already go into fruiting? (Remove bag, put in Martha tent with fans and mister) or do I just put somewhere with light and wait till it gets brown? How about putting sealed bag inside automated Martha tent?

@@maguimartinez-pena8600 Set it back on a shelf in a room that is 75-80F with more light and wait until it popcorns and browns.

Crap, I didn't do the refrigeration. Probably why it hasn't fruited in 7 days.

I've got some blackish material in a block can I assume thats mold?

If it’s shiitake it could be normal browning but you will have to see how it progresses. It shouldn’t be fuzzy at all.

If I'm cold shocking it by immersing it in ice cold water, how long should I leave it in water? I'm having trouble there are no pin heads forming or there are just 3 or 4 pin head. I jave around 530 blocks
