I grow some golden oyster mushrooms last year and got hooked. Now I've got into mycology big time. I isolate mono cultures to agar transfer them to liquid culture and then to slants for long storage. I have close to a dozen strains most were cloned from store bought mushrooms.

North Spore have grate kits. Another thing is you can always rehydrate your block. Soak it in water for 12 hours. You’ll probably need to put some thing on top of it if it’s dried out to dunk it under the water but as long as you keep the block hydrated properly an in good condition you can get three and four flushes sometimes.

Thank you for doing this video. It's really helpful. This is my first Lion's Mane kit. I'll be trying to guess at getting my harvest time right and since I know I don't like mushrooms past their prime, I'm concerned I might overcompensate and harvest too early. What happens if you harvest too early? Will the flavor be bad? Will the texture be bad?

I absolutely LOVE YOU!!! Your videos are wonderful, and you've always done your research. However, in all due love and respect... I would like to say... you didn't do due diligence in your research, this time. You cannot collect mushroom spores, out in the open... mold spores will find their way in. Several times, in your series... you refer to the straw as "hay", and, I don't think you understand the difference between sterilization, and pasteurization. That being said, I really appreciate the journey you made, and we got to go along with you. Thank you so much for making these videos. You made it quite clear, it was an "experiment." I really hope you got the mushroom thing, down... I know this is an old video... without having to buy a kit each time. You probably need a still air box, and a shotgun fruiting chamber. I think, your experiment would have worked better, if you had done a little more research... you would have known at least a still air box was necessary. Again, thank you so much for trying!!! If we never try anything new... then we never succeed at anything new. That, alone is inspirational. Thank you for trying. And, for sharing your "tries." I'm a mushroom grower... and, if you ever need any help... hit me up. I'd be so glad to help. You tried so hard!

How long did it take to grow/pin upon opening? I bought one for myself and my dad but it's been already 5 days and we haven't seen any changes other than white fuzzy matting right on top. I have blue oyster mushrooms and my dad has the golden oyster mushrooms.
