How to grow Muskogee Crape Myrtle (Light Lavender Pink Flowers). Muskogee is a large growing Crape Myrtle that reach 25 feet in height. It gets beautiful light lavender pink flowers in the summertime. Muskogee gets cinnamon colored bark.

My 20 year old Muskogee is approaching 30ft now. If you allow your Muskogee to grow big and un-cropped. Check the crevasses or pits between large trunks near the bottom, dirt will get in there, or old bark, and old leaves. Get a hose and spray out the gunk as the tree will start to sprout roots to tap the moisture in it's own pits. Do not want the disease getting a start on the surface of the tree with gunk building up. I have a blush light lavender, it looks white from a distance has light pink flower stems. Also have a blush lavender/pink blooms that is on the same branch. Possibly two seeds mixed on germination creating a two tone look.

I planted a Muskogee from Lowes last year September and it just died on me this spring. It was standing with dead tree limbs. I replaced it today with another much expensive one and cant wait to see its beautiful blooms in summer!

Thanks for video Jim. I installed a row of lavender crape myrtles in my front yard. I don't know the variety. One of them ended up having white flowers. Since we discovered this after a year of growth I decided to graft on a lavender variety onto that white crape myrtle. The graft is a Muskogee. I was excited to see that it was about to flower but when it finally did the flowers were white! Do you think the plant that I used for the graft was mislabeled?

I have a Tuscarora crape myrtle with 5 beautiful stems coming off the main trunk. Unfortunately, there's only a single trunk. Should you raise the dirt level so that the stems become trunks?

Muskogee Crapemrtle, I found out don't set buds until about round June, I went to Valley View Farms and theirs look dead too.

We purchased one of these and planted about 8-10 foot from our swimming pool in a flower bed. It looks beautiful at that location and will provide some shade on our decking. Do you think that the roots could cause damage to the pool walls or concrete? Thanks in advance

We had to have ours removed .I'm guessing it was over 30 years old. My pool man hated when all flowers fell into the pool. Be careful the roots will damage a pool retaining wall if it gets too big. We discovered this after removing ours. Best wishes. They are beautiful trees.

I have a young crepe myrtle but I have no idea what type it is. Is there anyway to tell the difference between a dwarf, medium and full size crepe myrtle besides the height?

If a Muskogee crape myrtle blooms white (I planted it leafless this spring) is it possible it was a mislabeled Natchez or maybe the flowers will change? I bought three and one looks to have white flowers instead of lavender/light purple. I guess I'll be patient and wait a few weeks to see what happens but I'm curious if this is "normal" for new crape myrtles sometimes or more likely they labeled it wrong from the nursery. Thx Jim!

once a branch blooms, is that as long as the branch will be? like, If I prune spent flowers will it stunt the growth

Likely aphids if it's on the new growth. I hose mine off when it happens, but you can spray for them if you choose.

I live in zone 7, we planted Muskogee 3/15/17 and it did bloom, but right now it looks dead .Help

It should have leafed out by now. Try bending the limbs and see if they break off.

Yes.the limbs breaks off easily, but the trunk is nice an green, when I bought it had no leaves, but it did flower late last year, it was pretty. Should I cut off the dead head

I have the same problem! It looks dead and this is May. We are keeping it only because the trunk when scratched shows green inside. I heard that we need to have lot of patience with this variety .
