1 month with daily shaking in the fridge. Culture tends to grow old after 2-3 weeks if you keep it in the light+air configuration. This is the one thing I forgot to talk about in the video lol

@@AvatarAquatics So if I buy live phytoplankton, will it keep long enough to raise baby amanos? Or should I start a culture? Thank you for everything you've put out here for the community!

Thank you so much for these recent videos! There's so little info on breeding and culturing amano shrimp and their food and your outlines have been incredibly helpful! I'm definitely going to give this a try!

Thanks for all this info. When mixing your own saltwater, I didn't had much luck, culture die or go yellow after a week. Did some research on this and found that magnesium sulfate is to blame. Added 3g on a litre mix , work very well. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Thank you for this informative video. Do you know if the phytoplankton nutrients work for freshwater phytoplankton too?

Good information! What should the magnification level of the lens be to be able to observe phytoplankton? Since they are so small.
@AvatarAquatics3 жыл бұрын
40x to see it, 100x to see them clearly, 400 for intricate details.

Did you mention at some point that the plankton Tetraselmis Sueccica does not need aeration to keep if floating? It would make sense since they are said to be motile. Although my 1st test growing them without aeration failed as they all settled to the bottom in 24h. I thought to confirm this before trying again and with more light. Are they capable to survive, float and grow without the movement of water ? If so, how? :) My test was done in front of a window and got morning sunlight.

I’m so glad I found your channel. What temperature you set the water at?
@AvatarAquatics3 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t matter as much for phyto as they can tolerate a lot of temps but mine is 22-25C

Welcome . What is the alternative to f2 fertilizer if it cannot be obtained in the country?? Thank you رد
@AvatarAquatics Жыл бұрын
Soluble all purpose fertilizer, but dose it minimally and test for nitrogenous wastes/heavy metals before using in your tank.
