Pothos is awesome, I've always had some growing in my filters and when they start to overgrow I just clip them then stick them in the sides, gives the tank a real amazon like look with the roots growing from the surface. Not only that, having plants around the house just really help with the whole ambiance of your place.

Informative video. My pothos have been in my aquarium for a couple of years. Very few, short roots have grown, primarily stems. Is there anything I can do to develop the roots? Thank you.

Took out everything cause i wanted them to have more space. Ive since added back some driftwood so its more interesting for the smaller cichlids like the convicts and jack dempsey

SG Bearded Aquarist nice I have an Oscar and I’m adding a pair of rainbow cichlids to the tank I have a firemouth and a jack dempsy to, do you ever plan to upgrade your tank It seems fine but if you want to add some more cichlids which I’m all for I would think you would upgrade to a 75 or something

Oliver Blackhall they only get to about 4 to 5 inches and the Jack Dempsey get 8 to 10 inches and also he shows us that he has mass amounts of pothos and a regular filter the pothos alone can handle more than half of that tanks stocking.

Yeap. Plants actually have a preferance for ammonia over nitrate. So if theres ammonia in the tank itll absorb it first. Only when there is no ammonia then it will utilize nitrite/nitrate

So if I based on observations such as aquarium plants' leaves becoming yellowish as a sign of nutrients lacking, thus to say that the aquarium water has ammonia of zero?

Nice video! Also, just in case, do you know some aquarium shops in sg that sell varioud corydoras? Im looking to buy some after CB and im thinking of getting bronze corys or maybe sterbai as I dream of breeding the cute little guys. But most shops ive seen only sell the Albino ones.

Green chapter has quite a few varieties of corys. Qian hu has many too. These are the two i can rmb the top of my head. Bronze and sterbai should be easy to find i believe.

With turtles no plant is guaranteed safe. But in general java fern and anubias doesnt taste good and most turtles leave it alone.

Oliver, brush up on your fish keeping knowledge will you? I test my water. Ammonia is 0ppm. So instead of using guidelines for beginners to assess everything you see, atart looking at things and then ask yourself is what I think I know a fact or an opinion/recommendation. Should you be using what you read to tell others what is the reality, or should look at reality and what is ACTUALLY happening and then use that to decide to definitive and accuracy of what you read. I can give a beginner a 200 gallon tank and 10 neon tetras and they can all die of ammonia poisoning. Likewise I can give someone who actually understands the science behind it, backed with the experience, a 10 gallon with 200 neon tetras and they will survive. So if this tank is wayyy over stocked to you, work on yourself.

It does require a substantial amount and grown optimal (high light) to have results. Certainly not a magic pill some people think it is but ot certainly helps.

That tank you showed with all those parrots and turtles and loaches I also think I saw a couple silver dollars or pacu that tank is way over stocked you need 120 gallons for a turtle of that size alone and that's minus the parrots the tiger loaches at get massive and the pacu or silver dollars I couldn't make out which one but they get massive aswell so you really want to upgrade to a 250 gallon otherwise all those fish and turtles will die
