Once I took a piece of wood in nature, that was colonized with Reishi, I brought it home, put it inside a big container... It started to grow a mushroom, but then contamination started to grow all over the wood surface, and eventually the Reishi mycelium was gone, dead... If I knew, I would have covered with dirt and maybe I had succeeded. Thanks for showing this method. Great step by step my friend.👌

interesting! there could be a million reasons why that happened, but definitely worth a try. thanks for sharing your experiment!

I did the same thing. I set it on a stack of other small logs about the same size and it colonized the other logs. I watered the heck out of it at first and then let nature take over. I live in Savannah, GA so we get plenty of heat and rain here on the coast. I love walking over in our woods and watching their progress. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It helps a lot. Btw- I add HERO to my coffee every morning.

A lot of reishi mushrooms sprouted up on their own on an old stump in my back yard! I had no experience with them so I do appreciate your videos. However, you said to dry them then cut them up. I cut mine up with kitchen shears before drying. So much easier! I made tea by simmering the dried cut up reishi for a couple hours in water. Then I added cinnamon & stevia. Still bitter! So I refrigerated the tea and next evening I mixed a half cup of the tea with half cup of decaf coffee. Bingo! The bitterness was gone and I only tasted a bit of the cinnamon & stevia. Oh so relaxing! It really helps me sleep.

The most beautiful mushroom imo 😍 both the antler form and the mature cap, and all those health benefits its amazing no wonder in Japan they call it the mushroom of immortality. I think the lifespan in Asia is much longer then in the west is because they have some much mushrooms in their diet (and much more fiber, vegetables and fermented foods). Im dreaming of growing them myself together with Shiitake and Oysters, this channel helps alot, thank you 😉

Thank you so much for sharing you amazing work and I hope you are safe and healthy out there. I have access to about 50 reishi blocks. If I compacted them into 5 gallon buckets to create very large sawdust blocks and using your method,do you think I may be able to have reishi for more than one season?

I started a Reishi garden box this year almost by accident. I started with spores grew that out on Agar, then grain. It was my intention to further put it on sterilized sawdust. The problem is the fruiting block was hard as a brick. Unsure what else to do I put them outside and surrounded them with buckets of sterilized sawdust I’ve been thoroughly hydrated. I wasn’t sure what to expect but to my amazement and the light I now have beautiful fruiting bodies in five different places. Next year I’m going to start with more fruiting blocks/grain spawn blocks. And do the same thing plant them in sawdust that’s been mixed with dirt. Mine sits low to the ground with wooden boards surrounding it. So it’s out of the wind and in direct contact with the ground to stay moist. I cover the top with a screen and shade cloth. This also has helped keep the bugs out. I further added live ladybugs hoping they would help with any pests

Question: My Reishi in a block have dropped their spores, so they are ready. I don't really want to use them in tea since I buy the powder already. It was more for the aesthetic (spelling) and wonder after watching Fantastic Fungi. If I leave the mushrooms alone and spritz them as I have been, what happens if I don't harvest? Will it just die out or will there be anymore growth? Will the shrooms that have bloomed stay alive?
