#terracegardening #RosePlantAirlayering #Airlayering
Rose Plant Air layering Steps
• Select an accessible cane at least pencil thick.
• About ¼ inch below a leaf node, make a cut around the cane And 1 inch below that make a another cut around the cane.
• Remove the bark between the two cuts, thus girdling the cane.
• Brush on rooting hormone (optional)
• Take a generous handful of wet sphagnum moss or coco peat and squeeze it so that it remains moist but not dripping.
• Warp the moss completely around the girdled stem and fasten with a nylon cable tie.
• Remove plastic carefully so not damage the root.
• Put your potted plant in a cool place out of direct sunlight and keep moist.

I was under the impression that the bundle should be wrapped in aluminum foil or something dark because the roots don't want any light on them. This video seems to disprove that. The roots seem healthy even though they were in clear plastic and directly in the light. Does a foil increase the chances or is it just a waste of material altogether?
@HarshSharma-ly5mt
@HarshSharma-ly5mt 7 ай бұрын
the foil is a good infrared reflector hence it will keep your layered area a bit cool protecting the roots from getting dehydrated , and it will also prevent any algae growth by blocking the sunlight so its a good option

If you don't remove the cambium layer it will not work it will just heal itself instead of rooting.

Doesn’t even look like the same branch, is it? Or was he just showing how it works on different size cuttings? There was no brown bark on the first branch but when you cut the donor stem, where did ask that brown bark just above the incision come from? Did the upper part of the donor stem develop hardened bark? I bet this procedure works but I also think it is hit or miss, depending on the weather, bacteria & tightness of the plastic wrap. I hope it works. But I’d like to try those hinged “Root Pods” that have the Sphagnum moss ready to go. Let’s see I guess?
