Scallions are delicious. I regrow my supermarket bought scallions all the time. They grow exceptionally well and I can't think of a reason why I don't have any in my patio garden.

You told your daughter that was good when she said she saw a spider. I could not agree more. Spiders eat bugs. Both my daughter and I keep a clear plastic glass and a card handy and we both trap spiders and slide the card under and carry them outside to release, because spiders belong outside. But we never ever kill them.

Just discovered your channel….can I start green onion from the bottom of a green onion or do I need seeds first? Thank you!!
@GreentgardenАй бұрын
Yes you could grow from the bottom or you could start from seed... You could buy some organic ones. Cut about 3 in above the white part. Leave some green and soak it in a glass of water within a couple days. You're going to see the roots start growing and then you could transplant it In soil... If you grow in soil it will grow back every single year...

Good afternoon. Thank you for sharing this informative video, My seedlings look like yours at about 1:24 into the video. They're falling over. Is something wrong with them? Am I over watering? I can't seem to grow anything, even the so-called "easy" ones. Thank you.

Could be Potassium deficiency can cause the plants to wither. Spread a 1-inch layer of kelp meal, greensand or granite meal throughout the bed.. ( If you see the soil getting green , it's too much water , water everyday 2-3 days .. you got this! More videos coming for !

Well, once you cut off the scallion, the bottom part will grow more roots and it will still grow scallions. If you leave it in the hot temperature as a scallions grows, it will bolt eventually grown flowers giving you seeds

Can these grow in direct sunlight my garden doesn’t have much shade
@Greentgarden Жыл бұрын
It could , but if the weather is too hot sometimes it bolts into flowers , end cycle , It's best to grow it in the early spring or early fall if you don't have a shaded area... You can always grow them by the window too , using water or soil.

What about any pests that are attracted to them?? I just noticed some black substance on some of the stems of my plant. ???????? The container is on my porch with tree other scallion plants. I have planted before and I don't know what it is. I wiped some of this black matter and it's damp and doesn't move, so what should I do. I have purchased some scallions at the grocery store put them in water until they root and then pot them. I get all the scallions I want this way. Thanks for the info.

So it could be the watering is off or I just need more fertilizer.. Add some fertilizer now and repeat every 3 weeks. Also, you could sprinkle use coffee ground lightly over it once a week. It will increase in nitrogen and give it a big boost.. Make sure to every 2-3 days .. A simple fertilizer amzn.to/3K5I5Ey (Amazon #ad

Hi I'm marie from Jamaica how do you grow onion I try but can't get it right
@Greentgarden Жыл бұрын
Bury onion sets 2 to 6 inches apart, gently pressing them 1 to 2 inches deep into loose soil. Space them 4 to 5 inches apart. Don't plan them in a full sun area. Plant them in a shaded area.. Big up Jamaica ! "Big fan of Stone Love "

My scallions are thin I plant them from bought ones....how do I get thick ones?
@Greentgarden2 жыл бұрын
So sorry just saw this question, I normally get the seeds on Amazon , they have oringic thin or thick ones , it all depends which one you have..
@zulmabontiffe4872 жыл бұрын
The thin ones are called chives. The thick ones are summer onions and if you just buy a bunch at your store, put them in a glass jar with water just up to the ball( the part that has roots) and watch it grow almost over night. I have been doing this for a few years now and I always have chives or scallions all year long. Chives are not easy to grow, but what I did was to go to HOME DEPOT and purchased chives in those small containers they come in and just put them in fresh soil and left them to grow like crazy. Chives are a perennial that grow back year after year. Just leave them in their pots until next spring. They also produce beautiful flowers in white or purple. Just cut off some off at the top and they are soo good in scramble eggs or in anything. I prefer the chives over the thick scallions, but I use and have both.

@libbyworkman16662 жыл бұрын
@calm aseva. Scallions are what green onions that do not have a bulb at the bottom are called. They grow more like grass, straight up. They are a form of onion, but they do not have bulbs at the bottom. Look at the picture on the seed envelope and you can see the difference.
