Career film, editor here… I’ve always been very impressed at your ability to do “one take” communications and you don’t have a bunch of jump cuts like most people and to see this blooper real gave me a good chuckle

Thanks, I suspect for me that comes from being an editor first...and wanting to make my post work easier...

I’ve tried growing mushrooms in logs and it was a complete failure. I did so much research and matched the mushroom with the wood, I created the correct environments etc, etc. I want to give it another try, so I appreciate this video very much!

I often say that I count a growing season a success if I have learned one thing NOT to do for next year. I'm in it for the long haul and hope to make new mistakes. I tried for 5 years in a row with mushrooms, and I'm just now (last year or so) getting good harvests.

Yes I kinda heard that about mushrooms that they are similar to us! Here too ... eating bugs -- I try to keep my mouth shut but if you need to talk then they try to sneak in. I had one go up my nose today -- that is definitely nasty. We're in mosquito season here in the Columbia valley BC. Last year we had lots and lots of dragon flies in August so I'm hoping they'll be back this year in the mean time the bats are out doing the night work. We had a forrest fire north of here but the wind carries the smoke this way ... not sure what effect the smoke has on bugs. They chase me from my garden near sunset but in the morning when it's cooler they're not bad. Thank you for your extremely informative video on mushroom cultivation!!!

Thanks! I've noticed that Morels tend to pop up very near Elm trees fairly consistently around here, and often in the same spot. The ones I've been looking out for tend to show every 2 years. Not sure if others have seen the same but as long as the ground isn't dug up or disturbed greatly, this pattern repeats.

I have golden oyster mushrooms growing naturally on my pile of elm logs. I get dozens of large colonies of mushrooms that produce several flushes each year.

I saw a mushroom tree beside the road and asked the owner to let me know if he was going to cut it down. I hauled it home and to a buddys house. They do flush a lot of mushrooms. After almost every good rain golden oysters.

Within ten steps out my door there's a stream with four waterfalls. The spray from the waterfalls causes a constant high humidity environment even on dry days. The elm out front produces a bunch of models and it got me thinking about growing mushrooms. I then tried the bucket method packed with boiled straw then inoculated and with the high humidity here natually, I couldn't give out mushrooms fast enough. Channel called 'town sends' does a video on mushroom ketchup and I dehydrated the leftovers. I have spice blends no body else can replicate from store bought, nobody can figure out why my bbq tastes.so good and nobody can figure it out. Love these videos

Thank you for sharing water tote hack...love being able to repurpose. Is lid left in place on purpose? If off logs can be watered naturally...asking cause I've tried to grow by logs before but unsuccessfully and want to try again. Tks JD
@WineberryHill
@WineberryHill 3 ай бұрын
Hi JD. I mainly do it to keep leaves and debris out of the tote....it also helps keep direct sunlight off the logs, which will dry them out.

Thank you for this video and detailed information. Just a quick question: Is there any chance of a non-edible mushroom growing in the same log? I am so worried about picking up the wrong one and risking a bad experience! Thank you.
@WineberryHill
@WineberryHill 8 күн бұрын
There is. This is avoided in part by inoculating in that window I mentioned. This insures that the type of mushroom you are introducing will have the biggest advantage and will essentially take up all of the usable real estate early on. That said, you will also know what type you introduced, and any interlopers will stand out as different.
