Oh Yes, it is inspiration to me, to know that I don't have to go buy a bunch of new stuff to start my patio garden!. I'm trying my hand at this for the first time at 55yrs old and it's overwhelming to have to learn so much in seemingly little time...( with the state of things) i want some self-sufficiency. Yes because I did it with Spanish thym but without the mesh better than the adding of compost over and over. Putting it in th pipe is very convenient. Great idea i must try that

Plants can usually filter out chemicals and the chemical level is so minut it doesn't even matter. so what you're saying is a huge misconception. You don't always need to use food grade BPA free plastic to grow your veggies in.

Rather than finding fault with his work, perhaps you/we could be more supportive by making your own videos with what is available in your area/part of the world. Maybe you could make a non plastic alternative to share now that you have seen this very creative and original idea. Metal bucket, chicken wire, metal tubes... but if you are concerned about toxins then be careful of the metal you use... Trying to come up with a different version can create “analysis paralysis” and you might never actually get something completed. Meanwhile ...this person is enjoying the fruits of their efforts harvesting beautiful nutritious greens! 🌱🌱🌱

Adding to comment from Barbie Kat: to slow the loss of soil instead of plastic bag you could line with netting like old style crinolines are made of. (Think the material used for the ruffles for CanCan dancing) lol. I planted my red potatoes this way but in a new but cheap-o plastic container. The dirt did not escape unless I cut a hole for potato leaves that were trying to get out. I bought the netting on eBay. One seller gets I think 10.00 a bolt but if you buy 4 bolts it is 7.00 per bolt when on sale. Lot of fabric but it can be used for other things in garden. I think I got free shipping too

Someone mentioned that strong boxes reinforced with wire should last a season at least. The box can then become compost.

Use dead leaves and wood chips in the first 2/3 to save on soil. Once it compacts, add more mulch and soil on top of that.
