The conclusion that I can get it from this marvelous discussion is language. Pak Gita over and over again always talk about how we can able to expertise the language especially English, because when someone already have it, then they are able doing everything, doing the story teller with peoples from across country. We have to also understand, that saving the world within a capitalistic society with constant demand for groth and profit is going to be almost impossible. The solutions is already out there, they are just not profitable enough. That is the biggest obsicle.

Im a little doubtful about the idea to persuade majority of people to learn english as extensive as one with obligation to do so, would. Even after 70 more years of being independet as a country (pftt😂), there are millions of indonesian who still could not speak bahasa. Also, after 300 years or more being friend zoned by portugese and dutch and living together with them, how many of us could speak the language? Even in the island where the most money circulates in endonesa, which is java, people tend to speak their daerah language more often than using bahasa endonesa, boro-boro tertarik coro english, di bandara surabaya aja announcementnya ada bahasa jawa, karena pemerintah setempat paham some of the people couldnt even understand bahasa endonesa because they only speak javanese. Anticipating language barrier by using technology would be more efficient and effective, timewise. Especially with AI, it would be not so difficult, rather, very possible, in the near future, there would be a device everyone can use for instant language translation, with a very minimum delay process, which makes it almost as convenient as speaking normally in everyday life. Seperti di film kartun Dragon Ball, atau bahkan doraemon. Technology is, and has always been, the ujung tombak to overcome any life’s difficulties for human being. Language barrier is just one form of barriers which separates us, dont forget there are also ideology barrier, belief system barrier, racial barrier, gengsi barrier, IQ barrier, Kesenjangan ekonomi dan sosial barrier, and so many other barriers, which have been proven throughout the history for its almost impenetrable skin. Language is like the root of cultural life, and endonesa is very strong in that aspect. Any trees or plants wouldnt like for its root to be shaken. Except if the plan is to plant a brand new plants. But, with technology, the old plan and plants could still thrive while the next generation of plants will adapt more quickly while maintaining the strenght of the root. Im just saying, let us see kemana AI akan membawa kita. It has huge potential to eliminate barriers.

Another thing to look at: when we actively push Indonesians to learn English, it will also (slowly) diminish the other barriers you mentioned. Although it isn't always the case, but for a lot of people, it does help. New language opens a new door and a new perspective.

If our mother earth is going to 3°C toward 2050 (as pak Gita said) then probably we all should be agnostic about GDP, linear growth, let alone AI or any silicon valley tech. Sustainable economy should strive within the ecological boundaries, which include human interrelation. Our mother earth doesnt care from what countries the emission come from. So I agree with pak Gita in regards to money subsidy from advanced countries. There should be creative eco-financial scheme in which the money would be invested in sustainable economic activities in Indonesia. Sustainable economy should involve a broad base of grass root, mid to lower income people, indigenous communities and women. For example, restoring mangroves along coastal lines, fishery, public transportation in land and sea, eco farming with organic fertiliser, eco enzyme production, responsible cattle breeding, responsible tourism, and climate change education especially to young people in Indonesia. I m not talking about responsible, sustainable, eco friendly nickel mining. This is too complicated without the involvement of China government who dominate nickle plant in Indonesia. On the backdrop of 3°C degrees climate change, Indonesia is on the cross-road. The country has the opportunity to strive economically within the planetary boundaries which include social and climate justice. Our president Jokowi spoke at COP28 that Indonesia is the chairman of ASEAN in climate change.

Setiap kali ada kabinet baru, sy selalu melihat siapa mendikbudnya. Miris, sejak zaman Soeharto sampai sekarang, pendidikan tdk dibangun serius. It takes 25-30 years to build education. Brp banyak waktu terbuang sia2? Sy msh menemukan generasi muda cuma lulus SD/SMP. Pdhl asalnya gak jauh2 dr Jkt, Karawang.
