How To Grow Tulsi/Holy Basil From Seeds (With Updates)

HOW TO GROW BLACK TULSI/HOLY BASIL FROM SEEDS
DAIZZ'S TIP:-
SOIL-Tulsi grows well in loamy and fertile soil with good drainage.
SUNLIGHT:Holy basil thrives in full sun but grows in partial shade too, at least four hours of sunlight a day is required.
It is important to pinch tops of Tulsi plant when they are forming four or six pairs of leaves, this will make the plant grow bushier. Even the flower buds need to be removed when they appear. It grows more lush and full when seed production is prevented

😊I received a holy basil plant a friend germinated last year. I got so many seeds from it that I'm trying to grow so many of them. The Lebanese smell is so good and it helps me with my sleep. I live in the Appalachian mountains where we have sand that has good drainage. It almost has a clay material to it. I actually mix it with some organic soil and organic fertilizer. I never thought about us being able to transplant them during cold months. I am so impressed by this channel

there are two types of tulsi , rama tulsi and krishna tulsi. ram tulsi is green in color while shyama tulsi is brown/purple in color( as you saw in the video)

Thank you so much. Great video! I have been growing a bunch of Tulsi for a month without knowledge. I replanted when they were too small and many died. The survivors are growing so slowly and they are not hearty leaf’d. They are 2 to 4 inches tall and I am wondering if that is normal for the seedling leaves to be so paper thin. I did not add sand. Perhaps I should add some when it comes time to replant after they become 7 inches tall. I had the first one as prasad and it tasted a bit like pepper to me. I have so many questions and hope that I can help them thrive now since I can have my questions answered.🙏🏼

Add seaweed extract to fertilize them ...it will boost thr growth ...mix 10 ml in 1 litre water to prepqre the mix and add 15-20 ml per plant ...send pics of the seedlings on Instagram( ID-urbangardening2 )....will check them

I had a small tulsi plant of 1 week old(grown from seed) which actually dried up and maybe there's fungus smell due to that which is still there in that pot where I have sown new seeds. Today is the 3rd day after sowing seeds.

It's only needed for germination.

Seeds don't need light or air to germinate. It has stored food in it. It utilizes the stored food to germinate and once the first 2 leaves show up, then it requires proper sunlight and aeration

Could be a few things. Maybe bad soil, needs amending. I like to water from the bottom with phosphorus, (bone meal, I think) to create strong roots. Also, they need air flow, so if the room was stagnant or something, they would struggle.
