Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us , I’m in Victoria Port Melbourne area . I live in a town house very small court yard how can I get a compost bucket started ?
@aussiegardenerstore
@aussiegardenerstore 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy Wonderful that you want to compost even in a small space. The bins we use could be placed on paving and function in the same way. Otherwise you could get compost tumbler units on a stand. If you are planning on putting in raised beds you could use the Little Aussie Composters. www.aussiegardener.com.au/composting Brian :-)

What are the growing bags made of? I’m curious as to how they break down and if they create micro plastics?
@aussiegardenerstore
@aussiegardenerstore 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jo, no they dont break down like other plastics which is why we love them. They are UV stable and will last you for years with a bit of care. They are made of geotech felt. Brian

the power planter will kill and chop all the earth worms plus you should not disturb the soil

Hi agree I wouldn't use power planter in soft soil but would be good for hard to dig or compacted soils and turning compost I'm 69 and can't do what I use to.

Does breaking up the soil destroy the microbes and soil health
@aussiegardenerstore
@aussiegardenerstore Жыл бұрын
There are some people who think this but if you dont break up the soil it becomes compacted and hard over time. It is common practice to dig over a bed to prepare it for planting and make it easy for roots of new crops to spread. We dig our veggie patch regularly and all the vegetables are growing well. Brian :-)

Hi Christina Earthworms have the ability to grow back if they are cut in half. But overall the worms dont tend to be hurt. You will see them being brought up to surface in one piece wriggling around. Brian :-)

I think what he is referring to is the lava of the lawn beetle, which eats the roots of grass & creates dead patches. It is a large white grub with a black head.
