1. Full sun. 2. Temp above 55 degree at night or plant later in season. 3. Below 6.5 PH soils. 4. Allow to yellow which means nuts are done growing, NO early harvest while green leaves. 5. Above 30% humidity. 6. Loamy soil - loose soil. PK I think I got it here thx!

My peanut plants have spread everywhere and look happy. These were the only seedlings I did not start myself this season. I got beautiful starters from the Amish Garden Market. They look so healthy in the ground, shoots and flowers everywhere. I planted them at the end of June. Waiting for them to yellow so I can get excited. My chickens will love them, and so will we. Next year I plan to use a few of the peanuts to replant a larger section and make my own peanut butter. Yum!

His/her effort did not go unnoticed. Lol The squirrels do put them away for winter I get that. I just thought it was interesting as to the places it was burying them. Interesting

Very cool! I did not know that the peanuts grew from the flowers after they touched the ground.. I assumed they grew on the roots! I have never grown peanuts before, but I have one growing in a large pot, which I assume was planted by a squirrel or chipmunk! I thought the plant looked sort of interesting, so I left it in the pot when I was pulling weeds. Then I found some peanuts buried in some other pots which I was planting in, so it dawned on me that it probably was a peanut plant since the plant looked similar to a pea plant. I looked it up, and it's exactly what it looks like, so I guess I might have some of my own peanuts thanks to a squirrel! It'll be fun to see how it turns out!

I love growing peanuts. I wish you would have grown them the whole season and showed us each growth phase. Are you worried about the length of your growing season and whether they'll have time to mature? I'd be really worried about that, especially growing from seed, and planting a little bit later. Technically the actual flower doesn't poke into the soil, each flower sends down a peg and the branch extends down. Also, you'll have much better results by adding gypsum when the plants begin to flower.

My aunt owned a orchard full of different fruit trees and when I was around 7 or 8 she asked me to go find the Peanut tree and pick a couple hundred peanuts for her baking. I got suited up and ready and I swear I was out in that orchards for hours and hours looking for the Peanut tree. I knew nothing about how anything grew and they got a great laugh out of it. I just received my seed peanuts. I live in Minnesota so I'm going to try growing them in the Walmart blue bags which are larger than most containers but don't add weight. I'm starting them indoors, along with some of my potatoes (which are doing really well) to hopefully have a longer growing season. I have a walkout basement with a gas insert in what used to be a fireplace so it's the warmest area of my house. Once it gets warm, I can take them outside. I'm hoping they do well because the crows that visit my yard keep planting peanuts that never grow. Those are some smart birds (my personal favorite) and I feel sorry for them. I have no idea how the figured out that they could plant peanuts. Nice video (as always).

I went a little crazy this year. I have so many different seeds to plant. Lots of peppers, tomatoes, mustard, watermelon, lettuce and so many others. I live in Maryland. So, I have a window I can grow. My grandparents have had a garden my entire life. So, I think it's time to give it a try. I got a pack os Spanish peanuts and regular. I also got two kinds of beer hops. I don't drink. It would be for my step dad and brother. I also got tobacco. I don't smoke but my grandparents do. My grandfather will be 81 this year. Been smoking since he was 15 probably. haha I thought, why not grow tobacco and give them something that is at least more healthy than the stuff they buy. I am planting most of the stuff in their garden. My grandfather can't take care of it now. He probably could be he does not have to. I will love doing it. Your video was helpful. Lots of good information. Happy planting. Let all of our gardens have a Jumanji jungle look to them.

Roasted and salted is also great, but if I were to grow them, I would always use them for boiled peanuts. Peanut butter is a great survival food! I get moles sometimes. I find the highest tunnel, make a hole and suffocate them with propane. Propane is heavier than air and will flow down through their tunnel system. I use a 20lb bbq grill tank. A cut hose with the correct fitting and no regulator. You'll get lots of flow.... more than you need. You will regulate it by how much you open the valve. A propane torch doesn't flow enough and tends to ice up, which then restricts the flow. I usually give them about 5 minutes worth and several good blasts. Sealing the top of the hole I made with my hand. It usually kills the the first try. Don't do this near any ignition source... though it would relieve frustration to blow their tunnel system up....lol

great video thankyou. i have never grown peanuts but would like to try. am a little confused as u said they like a lot of sun but u said they come from the rain forest. in the rain forest they would be covered by the over head canopy yes? I live in a hot country and u can grow most things here. would it be too hot for them putting them full in the sun?thanks shaz
