I thought I was finished doing belt and roller maintenance on my atv engine until trying to get the case cover back in position and the kick start gear got out of alignment. I knew that there had to be alignment marks to position. So I found your video. What a life saver....thanks.

All I got to say thank you I'll came home and I took it apart like you had it on the video and I put everything back together clean everything and what happened is the one gear was off a little bit like pushed out so if that I put everything back together nice and the spring correct I try to kick started the pefal up real fast now so thank you you're the man if it wasn't for you I'd be stuck with my 50 and my 150cc

You shouldn't need a puller for any of the drive faces (pulleys) in this CVT.

Just to let you know, awesome video, however I made a tool.to.make it possible to change the spring without dissasbling anything evcet the spring retsiner, its simply a piece of pipe 1 and 1/4 inch and has a slanted slot about 5/16 deep, works great,will do a video soon, keep up the awesome work!a

The GY6 bushings tends to break and all bushings must be inspected for hairline cracks before installing it again. I have my scooter with this problem and replacing them with new ones will make them operating smooth again. This is very useful when your battery is dead since the scooter cannot be pushed start.

The beauty of petrol-scooters and pretty generic GY6 is some models have both kick-start and electric-start AND push-start = which makes using a battery-powered screwdriver or drill with socket, a possibility. Anything that have a pull-cord can have all three modes of starting by copying the concept and buying the parts and slapping it on with a slight additional welded nut for the electric-drill(with socket, optional clutched-torque settings) That will include old-cars. To add an assistive electric motor which is also regenerative and call ot a hybrid will be a bit more work on the timing-belt to crank-shaft portion. Nut-case is a double-edged joke.

Hi is the outer bushing that goes in the case supposed to sit all the way in the case or more just in the rim, my scooter doesn't have one and from what I can find it looks like it's supposed to be 14mm inside diameter and 18mm outside diameter, but an 18mm outside does not fit all the way into the case. Any info or suggestions would be great

Installed it all ok. When I put the cover back on the kickstart just about works for one go. Then it seems to go out of alignment and is very stiff/impossible to engage.

Yes think so. Before the kickstart broke I was giving it a real battering when I was starting up. I'm thinking now, that may have damaged it (beyond repair)? Next thought is to repair the electric button start...

My case is vented, so I don't bother. The only reason to use a gasket if the case is vented (I cut holes for cooling) is to maintain spacing or if you have issues with vibration.

My kick start hasn't worked since I got the bike in 2011. 150cc. I put on 9000 miles since but am bring it back to life right now after sitting for 2 years. I got into motorcycles so it sat. Took the cover off and that bushing is cracked in half. Mostly likely why it didn't work. Where do I just get the bushing?

Got a question. I have a 150cc scooter that's had a big bore kit put on at a scooter shop that's since closed down. Since the work was done I have NEVER been able to kickstart the scooter. Is there any thing that I can do?

Just too tough to get a good kick? Maybe do something to lower compression, but if it performs well then you will change that. Otherwise, maybe the carb needs some fine tuning or there's an issue with the kicker.

Quick question! My hammerhead twister 150cc has the same setup but does not have the ability to kickstart. Question is do I still need to have the gears in position as your video shows or can it be disengaged as it looks to be now

If you can't kickstart it, then there's really no need to have the kickstart gears at all.

If that spot in the case broke, I'd probably see if there was enough material left to grind/machine the area down a little and enlarge the hole slightly. Then an interference fit sort of bushing could be made with a keyway cut into it. That's pretty complicated for the average DIYer though and having a shop/machine shop do that would probably cost more than a new case or maybe a whole engine. Another thought would be to see if the area could be ground down and then just cut a groove in a thick washer/spacer and JB Weld it on. You'd have to be careful with placement, thickness and diameters for any of these operations.

Depends exactly what broke and where. Could be a major issue or could cause vibration from being out of balance.

Hate bugging about my kickstart being jammed up. I've removed cover, cleaned, lubed and it still will not go down. I've put it on 5 or 6 times, same results. When off scooter the unit works smoothly. Either I'm doing something wrong or motor is seized or some gear bearing is jacked. My electric starter doesn't work.. So I can crank that way. A guy told me I should use channel locks to try turning crankshaft... Does that sound correct ? Any suggestions appreciated. I to dang old to keep riding the MTN BIKE. Thanks

Try turning the crank by hand. Grab the variator or flywheel and try to rotate it. Be sure the ignition is off and kill switch set to kill/no run setting for safety. If you can't turn it over by hand, something is wrong. At that point, start by removing the spark plug to see if it shows anything obvious (damage) or if the engine can turn over without the plug.

The engine could be seized. Kick start shouldn't stop the engine from turning if all is correct.

I have a question if you could answer this possibly I fix my starter it has 12 V and when I crank the engine the starter Kranks but the motor does not turn over and if I pull the starter off and spin the fly wheel on the outside I guess the motor spins what could be wrong with my scooter

If the starter spins fast and the engine never turns over, it's probably the starter clutch.
