Thanks for including the ironing detail, avoiding the pins makes the hem much cleaner to sew! A tutorial like this on how to understitch necklines with linning would be fantastic, I find it so confusing trying to secure everything without the lining poking out.

Thankyou so much for doing this super close up. I have searched KZbin for someone who films like this so I'm not wasting my time ! THANKYOU ! ❤🧵 Also - I do a lot of beadwork and I had no idea that cutting the thread before I thread the needle would make it twirl up while I sew. That is a new skill I will use every day now !

'Love this tip about threading the needle before cutting the cotton, my hand stitching can be frustrating because the thread often gets really twisted then knots at the eye of the needle making it impossible to pull the thread through. I will be trying this for sure. Thank you. 😀

Rubbing the tip of the thread in your fingers can also help the plies stay together so they don't split as you thread the needle ❤

How would this work for bias binding? Maybe Im just not understanding.
@RetroClaude
@RetroClaude 3 жыл бұрын
For bias binding the technique is much the same. First the bias binding is sewn on by machine on the right side of the fabric, then the bias binding is folded around to the inside of the hem encasing the raw edge. Then if the binding is pre-folded the folded edge becomes like the folded top edge of the hem and is stitched in place as in the video. If not fold under the raw edge of the bias binding and that becomes the folded top edge of the hem. I do this technique in a more recent video I will find you the link 😊

How do I see a back stitches
@Stettafire
@Stettafire 5 ай бұрын
You don't, you place your needle through the fabric at equal distances. It helps to pin your fabric so it doesn't shift ❤
