Great video, just got a good price on a thick 100% wool cable knit sweater second-hand with a really rough, rather scratchy hand and had to figure out this same process though an internet deep dive. Fortunately, after the hand wash and some freezer time, it’s much softer. You find all kinds of home remedies and products to soften the wool and I fortunately didn’t ruin it because I went with a special delicate detergent, but caring for quality materials like wool, cashmere and silk isn’t taught and you could easily mess something up throwing it in the dryer like everything else.

It's great you got a good deal on that sweater! Glad you were able to clean it properly and not ruin it!

Cashmere is wool. Is there a reason you say it always separately? Rajiv Surendra has the best tutorial on wool washing so far! Cheers!
@Justin_Kwan10 күн бұрын
Cashmere is wool, but is different from sheep's wool or lambswool. For example cashmere is much finer which leads to its super soft hand. It's also hollow, which has greater insulating characteristics. However, due to being finer and hollow, cashmere is more susceptible to shrinking in hot water or if handled incorrectly. This is why I talk about cashmere separately.

thank you for the tips. Can you also make a video how to wear loafers as a casual style? It’s very popular now but idk how to wear them
@Justin_Kwan10 сағат бұрын
Your welcome for the tips, hope you found it useful. Sure, I'll try to make a video around loafers, as you may notice in a lot of my outfit or styling videos on the channel I wear a lot of loafers. You could start with those videos for now to get some ideas and inspiration.

Thank you for showing us how to wash it, Justin! A question, how do you take care of your knitwear in between wears, when you have a bit of pilling / small amounts of dust?
@Justin_Kwan10 күн бұрын
If you give the knit a bit if a shake, the dust will air out. If your knitwear is pilling, it may be time to use a pilling remover.
@yamaksy10 күн бұрын
ALso - just freeze your knits overnight in between wears. Perfect against smell, moths and dust. Just use a cloth bag to put it in the freezer.

I've heard of people doing that with denim as well.

@@Justin_Kwan Careful with the jeans though! Some models nowadays are not 100% cotton. Anything elastic should be kept away from extreme temperatures. p.s. I subscribed.

Did you not rinse out the soap?
@Justin_Kwan6 күн бұрын
I rinsed it 3 times, but only showed 1 rinse. Usually 2-4 rinses will be enough. You can tell when you run a rinse, squeeze the knit and if no soapy bubbles come out you are good to go.

Most of my knits are machine washable. I toss them in a laundry bag and use the gentle cold wash setting on the washing machine.
@Justin_Kwan10 күн бұрын
I'm glad you're able to machine wash your knits, but I hope this video is helpful if you need to hand-wash anything delicate.
