best video i’ve found about this. others were saying to use multiple towels instead of just putting it in the dryer after the burrito step. thank you.

I hand wash all my knits I'm Woolite and cool water, flat dry. Steam after to get wrinkles out. Baking soda helps remove stains.

Not the first time I've heard of people using woolite! So glad that it works so well for you :). Baking soda for stain removal is so great too. Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰.

I actually just hand washed two of my silk shirts! It’s true, it’s such a relaxing process...there’s something about the tactile nature that grounds me. I’ve used mild shampoos in the past, but decided to try out Woolite and am really liking it so far.

I use a very similar process for my silk shirts and have been super satisfied with the results. I've heard of several people using Woolite and liking it. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰.

When I lived on the East Coast, my local lingerie shop introduced me to the most wonderful product for all my delicates and hand wash items. Eucalan was developed in Australia for cleaning wool products. It cleans by hand washing or in the washer on the delicate cycle, and it does not need any rinsing. I have been using it for over 10 years and I love it!

I thought I'd see if I can get this in Canada. So I found their website, and discovered their list of retailers listed by Province. Turns out there is a retailer in my town. A diaper supplier. I googled their name and discovered their rural home address. LITERALLY next door to my best friend's house! I just had to share. And now I'll share some more. Not one hour ago, I was also randomly looking for Canadian supplier for Cork fabric (kinda a rare thing). I easily found a few great online stores in the US and Aus, but not easy to get to Canada. Then I discovered a supplier based in BC.... but where? Bit more searching. They're in the little village 10min from my home. I think I've met the woman through my business circles too. Sometimes the world feels vast and other times it's shockingly small. Thank you for Eucalan tip. I'll see if my friend is up for a walk this week ;) I'm living in sweaters through COVID.

Hey Lauren! Very useful and helpful video. I've been to get into washing more of the clothes by hand as well as hang drying them instead of using the dryer. I can't believe how fast your channel has grown! It's definitely well deserved. Have a great day!

Hi Kali :). I'm glad that you're finding a routine that works for you! I think that hang/laying flat to dry is such a great alternative. I think that a lot of care damage happens in the dryer. And I can't believe it either! I really appreciate your kind comment 💕. Thanks for watching 🥰

I do exactly the same and I'm always nervous about overworking the underarms and accidentally felting the fibre. I like how you showed this step and reassuring to see someone else do the same. I used to use my fancy sulphate free shampoo, but picked up a bottle of Laundress last year. Looking forward to trying Eucalan. I get great satisfaction running my steamer over my fresh washed, DRY sweaters. It relaxes any starchiness in the fibres and perks them up at the same time, to make it look like new and if I gently use the silicone attachment on my steamer it cleans up the piling a bit too. Have you had to mend small holes in your knitwear yet? It's another well kept secret. In a sweater like yours, you might not be able to find the hole afterwards. Enjoying your content. Keep it up.

Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment! I've seen others use Laundress and have heard positive things about it for sure. I've kept it pretty simply here, but I'm sure there are other really good products. Love a good steam sesh, and I personally have a little depiller that I use at the beginning and end of the season! I haven't had to mend any holes yet, but I'm sure I will at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting 🥰.

When I was living overseas, I found a product called Perwoll for wool (in a pink bottle- available on Amazon) is the best! I think it is a German product. I completely stopped using the dry cleaner, except for a very heavy wool coat. I am able to wash wool jackets, sweaters, and all my lingerie in my front-load washer in the delicate cycle. I don't use the dryer for any of my clothes- only sheets and towels. It really saves your clothes, and no dry-cleaning chemicals

I wash all my dry clean except suits/coats. Got to watch out for the color red and rayon fabric. Those two might bleed or shrink. I also put them in the washing machine on gentle (in a laundry bag). The manufacturers always put the most gentle least harmful way of washing. They choose dry clean to protect themselves from any problems. The funniest is when they put a dry clean only on polyester. Polyester doesn't' shrink and the fibers are dyed. Unless it has unusual embellishments, into the washer and dryer. The only exception is if I think it will dry on it's own before the dryer cycle time ends. Most poly dries very fast.

How many wears do you generally get before you wash?
@LaurenWMcKinney
@LaurenWMcKinney 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. There are obviously many factors that determine how often i wash something such as where I wear it, whether or not I wore an undershirt, etc. Usually, I can get by with 2-3 full washes per season with spot cleaning in between if needed. However, I really just feel it out. Natural fibers are forgiving and many of them are antimicrobial!
