It's obviously different now, with self-tape dominating, but I recently had an audition for Sheetz that called for the character to take a bite out of a chicken sandwich. For the audition, I ate a peanut butter sandwich, because I felt like the bit of the sandwich was an important element to it. And there was no dialogue, as it was all voiceover conveying his thoughts. I got a callback, and in the callback, actually used a Sheetz chicken sandwich. I did not book the job, but was on hold for it and ultimately the backup for it.

This discussion was helpful. I'm preparing for a self audtion taping in which my character is standing before the other character and is purposefully acting nonchalant, and the sides have him taking an occasional sip of a cup of coffee he's holding. I've decided to go an hold a paper cup of coffee and take those sips--the specificity will aid in my portrayal. My other choice would have been to avoid the coffee parts totally (and certainly not mim them), but the discussion in your video has onvinced me to go ahead an take those sips.

Hello! I am an actor in the SouthEast Market Living in Atlanta. I see a lot of actors like myself reading for and doing a lot of self tapes for 1 or 2 liners. What are you as a casting director looking for in an audition with limited material for any kind of character development or creation? Especially in TV day player roles.
