Thanks for the well explained and demonstrated instruction. There were several helpful tips, even for those who are familiar with a PCT bear hang. One thing I might offer is that a second carabiner can sub well for a stick as a stop for the cord. Just make sure the smaller carabiner is attached to the bear bag, with the larger one being used as the stop. The reason being that a carabiner is less likely to snag the line or on other branches on the way up and down, in heavily branchy areas.

BlackOwlOutdoors Just the oldest long distance hike in the USA. The Long Trail runs the length of VT, 272mi. It will take me years to do the whole thing, but some do it in three weeks. You guys should check it out!!

This method is also handy for setting up a piñata. FYI. Great video though.

When I'm backpacking (versus stock mounted with aluminum panniers) I prefer to use a 1 inch flat webbing strap 50 feet long. I rollup the flat webbing into a "wheel" secured by a rubber band or two. The coiled webbing fits under my cook pot in the cooking gear stuff sack. When it is time to throw over a limb, leaning tree, or fork I throw the coil in such a way that the coil provides weight and uncoils over the target limb when thrown. If I miss the throw, I then tie a double half hitch around a stick for weight and throw the stick. The advantages of the flat webbing is it slides much easier over the limb and doesn't bite into the limb. The webbing is plenty stout enough to haul up food, dog pack(s), and toiletries with easy. It takes a bit longer to coil up the flat webbing into a neat "wheel" when breaking camp, but that gives me more time for coffee and to listen to the Townsend Solitare's beautiful haunting call in the wee morning hours.

Even a better idea is to take your cord hank or loop and use a forked stick to hang it up on your stick so there is nothing for the bear to even get a hold of.

avoid using brightly colored rope and bags because bears have started to associate that with food or at least something to check out

stop tying to be so artsy.. these are tutorials... you need to see what hes doing, not back up and try to frame artsy shots.
