instead of all that measurement , you could get a large cardboard , cut it exactly the size of the panel and punch a small hole exactly where the eyebolts in the panel are positioned .... then place the cardboard on the ceiling and tape it to place , moving it and adjusting until you found the perfect place ... then for marking all you need to do once the cardboard piece is taped to the ceiling at exactly the right spot, take a pencil and mark the location of the eyebolts from that little hole you punched :)

Made a huge difference at the end when you talked under both it was wsy more under control. I like what you did with the trap along the edge of the cieling I'm definitely going to do that with mine now

Awesome video :) One question and I'm sorry if I missed this. How did you get the holes to be in a straight line and correctly parallel/perpendicular to the ceiling and walls? Did you use a chalk line maker or something like that?

most people use rockwool for the bass traps right? but what do you use to trap the mid and high frequencies effectively?

Thanks for the super-informative information Dozer. Really appreciate it you taking the time/energy to help all of us out here in the rest of the world. Quick question for anyone who can answer. For the straddle traps you used mechanical wire, but for the cloud traps you chain. Was there any particular reason for the difference here?
@Dozerbeatz
@Dozerbeatz 10 жыл бұрын
No problem, glad you like the video. Chain, because for the ceiling clouds, they could be seen. Chains would look nice. Mechanical wire can be substituted with chain. I ended up updating the studio. I will be making another video soon. Ended up using front wall panels for ceiling clouds, and building a full front wall behind the desk, that is about 7inches thick, floor to ceiling, from corner trap to corner trap.

Ah ok so it's mainly for aesthetics. Good to know. The update sounds massive, looking forward to getting a peak at it.

Thickness is one of the many things effecting frequency absorption of both rockwool, and rigid fiberglass like OC703. There are many other factors. Google search for "Bob's Absorption Coefficients" for an example of frequency absorption characteristics. For more info on my room, google "Upgrading Acoustics/Measurements Included". Take a look at my thread with pics and measurements at Gearslutz. Enjoy.

Hi, I looked at that table and I wanna ask u what this means? 703, plain 2" (51mm) 16" air 3.0 pcf (48 kg/m3) 0.66 0.95 I mean what is 16" air? 16 inch away from ceiling?

Yeah, helpful and funny. I stole another guy's line: "Explain it to me like I'm a five year old" because there's always that one thing people assume you know that is the key to the puzzle. And that's the one day you skipped class. heheh. The only nerdy thing I would add is that when you drill that hole in your ceiling, you've created a place for the sound to get out, so if you're really trying to "soundproof" as well as bass trap, then be sure to fill that hole back. But hey, good job, Dozer!
@Dozerbeatz
@Dozerbeatz 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Not really trying to soundproof, as this is in the basement, and its location does not allow noise from outside to cause a problem, and sound can not be heard by outside public. Mainly concerned with taming acoustic inadequacies.

Panels, especially clouds, need to be 9 inches thick of “safe n sound” (40kg/m3) to absorb all the sub. Thin panels are just not worth it If you want your room to sound big you need thick ass clouds. Without them the room will sound boxy

if your floors are the same dimension you could have just measure off the floor and transferred your measurements to the ceiling with a laser
