I'm growing onions for the first time. One plant is blooming , a few others are popping up out of the ground(maybe I planted to shalliw&close) others are green stalked and few are dried up stalks. BTW, I appreciate your videos and articles, thank you !

So helpful! Thank you. Just praying for land! Our once sunny spot in the back yard has quickly become shaded by huge neighboring trees continuing to grow. Our winter greens garden was amazing last year (planted near Oct and harvested from about January til June!) we’re in north GA, but summer gardens aren’t sunny enough.

Thank you for the fantastic detailed information! I have around 300 onions ready to harvest and cure so this super helpful. However, from a video production standpoint, I noticed one thing during the intro and a few parts that may be helpful in the future. Your Auto-focus is going nuts on the mostly static scenes, likely due to super bright conditions, sparse fast moving clouds triggering auto-exposure, etc. If your camera has the option, try one-time auto-focus or set it to manual. My day job is literally fine-tuning these algorithms, so I thought I'd pass on the knowledge. Auto-anything is still bad for static framed video :-/

Thank you for this. I grew onions last year and now know what happened to them. Lol. I just signed up for the organic garden workshop. So excited.

So glad it was helpful @Kerry Loper and am thrilled to have you in the workshop!! Do you have a garden this year?

Melissa K. Norris - Modern Homesteading I do not. The weeds over grew so quickly and I just really had no time. But this coming year I will. We have been weeding and will be tilling soon. Hopefully get something growing in the winter. I’m excited for the workshop

Looking forward to pt 2. I braided my onions 3 weeks ago. Still hanging in shade outside. My white onions are getting a green color not mold. I had some split in the ground and grow some alien looking appendages out the split that thoroughly grossed me out. I’m sure it’s normal but it was just freaky wrong. Love your work, ty.

I’m in zone 9 , it’s my first time growing onions. They are all short day varieties, planted in January. None have bolted, but they are falling over. I trimmed the tops back five or 6 inches because I heard that was the thing to do. Now, having watched your video, I am wondering if they are finished growing.What do you think?

This is my first time growing onions. This video was very helpful. My onions have started falling over, but none of them formed bulbs. I'm wondering if my soil is out of balance because we got lots of leaves, but very little fruit. 1 zucchini that didn't make it past 4 inches long, and 2 cups of green beans off of 16 plants. Too much nitrogen?/compost?
@MelissaKNorris5 жыл бұрын
@Rogers FamJam I would definitely start with a soil test (some county extension offices will do them for free) or you can mail in your soil for less than $20 to some companies to know exactly what your levels are. It's hard to go wrong with too much compost and a soil test will tell you for sure, but it almost sounds like not enough nitrogen if most your crops are showing little growth or output.

I often just let them go in the garden for aesthetic value. I'm like that though.

Hi @Neil & Elizabeth Philpott I got it from Neesee's Dresses online, another reader shared their site with me a month or so ago and this was my first purchase from them. Very pleased with the quality!

@@livingthefruitfullife654 I love the vintage style, it's called the Bethanne on their site in the Dusty Opal, I got the medium and did have to move the buttons over on the arm opening so they weren't so tight (pretending it's all awesome biceps from homesteading 😉)
