You chipping the chicks shell with bot change its genetics so its weak. He is born weak or strong. But ur right if the chick cant break his own egg than it means he is weak.

New subscriber here. We have 6 hens and one roaster we raised from very small chicks. You just answered my first few questions. I live in a cold climate so I will be waiting to do any hatching. However, I wonder. With this method can the chick then be re introduced back in with the grown or shall they be separate in a box till bigger? Technically, all things I did raising the first brood will be repeated.. this video being the missing link.. I think I may have answered my own question 🤔

You can't use store bought. Eggs must be fertilized from rooster and must stay warm. Try a farm selling eggs, farmers market, or maybe just ask around for a farmer with chickens. Tractor supply stores sell chicks. Hope you get some
