I think my childhood self = true self = ideal self. Life is a journey back to childhood. ❤️
@MissVasques3 жыл бұрын
Sounds sweet but surely you’ve grown and changed for the better since being a child? Like trusting insticts, standing up for one self and learning which fights is worth taking. And learning to see things through other ppl’s eyes before lashing out from just your own pov. Or perhaps your child self is something very different from mine. And perhaps I took it way to literal so if so, very Sorry.
@AlexisKingsley3 жыл бұрын
@@MissVasques ❤️ Yes that's so true, there is much empathy and wisdom that is developed along the way. I mostly mean in the context of this video (having a good relationship with yourself) that shame, insecurity, anxiety are virtually non-existent when we're born, until bad experiences/trauma taint our beauty and, in turn, our relationship with ourselves. And in some ways, we learn too much empathy/selflessness, to the extent where we forget ourselves and it is no longer a virtue. For many people, not all, we have to learn the skills of choosing ourselves first once again. I think the beauty would be in seeing the world and yourself like a child with the maturity and wisdom of an adult ❤️
@joshshortt95993 жыл бұрын
@@AlexisKingsley I see this convo between Alexis and AngelFrosthia has stumbled upon the difference between childish and child-like. Childish=negative, infantile qualities of the child, vs. the child-like, which are the positive qualities of the child.
@the_bob_1473 жыл бұрын
@@joshshortt9599 well originally she said "childhood self" which I concider to mean both the good and bad parts of childhood and therefore I really disagree with that statement. Child like is good. But even that isn't appropriate in all situations. As children we are more honest to ourselves ands so we are our more true selves but it's still important to mature and grow up and look at our childhood selves and see what who we were who we are and who we can be. And based on that take our life the right direction.

I love how happy you are to restart your life for yourself and really loving and taking care of yourself. I’m a freshman at college this year and I didn’t realize how much work goes I to taking care of our bodies and minds without the help of my parents. No one is here to make sure you work out and eat healthy or to make you feel better when you feel sad. But it’s also really cool because now I can fully submerge myself in working better for myself and truly making me feel like some one who is worthy of love from not only others, but also myself.

Hearing Ro describe her childhood self as having her head in the clouds, and the way she said she tends to go after her passions to an extreme extent until she burns out or gets bored and moves on, and that *immediately* being followed up with her distractibility - it was like watching my own ADHD diagnosis unfold right before my eyes. Obviously that's not to say that Ro has ADHD (I genuinely don't know, I'm pretty new here and *definitely* not a professional). But to anyone who feels like they relate heavily to that experience: perhaps try some routines, apps, etc specifically curated for people with ADHD. Even if the diagnosis doesn't fit, maybe the coping strategies will. For example: I always thought I sucked at organization because I'd put everything away and two days later it would all be strewn out in the open again (or I'd forget where I put things and eventually forget I even own those items). It turns out my brain just really needs to *see* what I own so that I don't forget about them, so clear organizers drawers are a life-saver! This even includes my fridge! Back when I'd put my veggies away in a place that I couldn't see them, they would always spoil before I would remember to eat them. Now that I can see them when I open my fridge, I don't have to worry about that. Or hey, don't like chores but your brain *really* likes those happy chemicals? Sticker chart!!! You could give yourself a sticker for every individual dish you wash if that's what it takes to get through that chore.

As with all of your videos, this came at the perfect time! In our mastermind with my parents, we are reading "the seven secrets of happy and healthy relationships" by Dr. Miguel Ruíz, and the incredible thing about relationships... is that they all start with ourselves. The way we treat each other, communicate with each other and show affection to each other is, in the end, a reflection of our relationship with ourselves. Thank you so much for your valuable insights and generosity! We'll do the triangle exercise in our next mastermind meeting!
