I generally like these videos but I have to say this felt more like a sales promotional video than a training/information one. Would have enjoyed more seeing the proper way to increase/decrease axis rotation while still rolling the ball vs spinning it.

I will be sure to get these tools when I have $500 laying around. Actually I made my own release trainer with rollers from Harbor freight. It worked but not perfectly. For the axis rotation you might be able to drill two holes in a piece of wood. Just don’t aim at the kids. For the thing that looks like a cows nut, there are heavy dogs toys I’ve seen at the pet store that might be adapted for the drill.

I want to say thank you very much Mr O'Connor for giving us a shout out for 30 45 seconds for airtime every second was worth it and I played every time I get a chance I watch the whole complete video and to be honest with you this video does fit Me based on the fact about access rotation and me getting better ball releases I am trying to be a better bowler and trying to get back to that 190 average that I used to carry years ago but I understand it takes time I do want to thank my teammates I want to thank my best friend Richard, Keith, Jon, and Steve! You guys are one of my favorite teammates I always look forward to see you guys on Tuesday nights you guys are a great man and I totally appreciate you giving the time and opportunity Richard you've been a really dear friend of mine and I love you for life that's just how that's what real friends do. Mr O'Connor I can never thank you enough to bring this video out for us it opens up the map for all of us all around the country including our great state of ours in Iowa. I'll forever take this and share this forever it brings a smile on my face it really does and as always thank you again we will keep supporting your channel every time sir you're a wonderful man to talk to you and someday I will love to meet you and have a wonderful conversation with you. This is good stuff , thx for sharing , on flat and fresh patterns this is fantastic, however unless your Chris Barnes dead up the back is not always the answer though, even Duke is on the side when left of the 3rd triangle, and well we wont even talk Weber. Love your channel, cheers!

Yes but coming up the back of the ball gives us more control and you can add more axis rotation in degrees. Pete Weber definitely has unique way of higher axis but his rev rate being on the lower end helped him to not have such a violent backend reaction and of course everyone’s PAP is important in all cases to get the ball to roll more. I come up the back of the ball and just turn my palm in whatever direction after I release to give less or more axis rotation depending on what I see.
@bowlingdj300
@bowlingdj300 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jesusfanatic0711 It can be effective for sure but on higher friction etc you can pound the pocket all night for 570, your probably effective with it in that your under the ball unlike many league bowlers, Weber also uses surface and layouts to tame reaction.
@Jesusfanatic0711
@Jesusfanatic0711 3 жыл бұрын
@@bowlingdj300 well yeah of course I would go to a weaker ball with a weaker layout or just spin the ball a ton more that would make sense on a lot of friction. I bowl in two houses, one lane surface plays slick and the other you bump it out and it swings like a caveman so I can agree with that.

Thanks! On the contrary, If I'm a lower speed rev dominant player that has trouble getting the ball down the lane on dryer conditions (non-sport), will axis rotation help me get the ball down the lane further?
@Fejix87
@Fejix87 3 жыл бұрын
It would, but the backend becomes more volatile and harder to control/repeat. I think looking at ball layouts and surface changes would be an easier approach. A lower diff ball (~0.03) with higher surface (3000-5000) would get down the lanes easier with more control than putting a high axis rotation on a higher diff ball with lower surface.

@@JohnScheppler one of my friends is rolling his that way intentionally at one alley because of the break point for him. I think you could get the same results with a different layout. The shape may change a little. I'm a high rev bowler and haven't had this particular problem, but from the simulation software I've seen... you could just be rolling over the holes because of how you bowl and the layout of the ball. Another bowler would get different results with the same ball

Hi Art, I am proficient at changing my hand position and axis rotation. However, when I stay behind the ball with end over end roll (no axis rotation) my ball doesn't react and comes into the pocket flat.

You need some axis rotation, for sure. What this vid is saying is that on certain patterns/conditions there is a thing as too much axis rotation.
@nicholas104

I'm not very experienced, but if you're playing around with less axis rotation, then wouldn't it be better to play from the right side of the lane? Maybe you are too far left.
@ArtOfBowling

that is not a correct assumption...coming in flat gives you less axis rotation ...less hook...could be greater Rpm if you are under the ball

In the video, Adam said that a lower axis rotation would be best for the PBA conditions. What’s best for league conditions?
@theb2694
@theb2694 3 жыл бұрын
Low and high axis rotation could work in league. I would as a good rule of thumb, less rotation on the fresh and more during the burn when you need to move left and get the ball to shape properly.

OK, time to vent. I'm relatively new to bowling and trying to learn. This is one of many videos I've seen that talks about minimizing, or at least reducing, axis rotation, coming up the back and/or getting the ball rolling end-over-end more. The problem is, every video of a good or PBA bowler shows them snapping up and around the side of the ball with crazy axis rotation and spin rates, and the ball moving 15-20 boards right before curving back to the pocket 10-16 boards left. What gives? Do I believe my ears (throw it straight-ish) or my eyes (curve the crap out of it)? Please help!

I truly hate this version of the release coming up the back of the ball I'm more of a PBA style player where I like to come around the side of the ball as much as possible I just hate the way my ball rolls when I come up the back of it that's why I don't do it.
@williamgriffin6256

Hi D. I think what Art is trying to say is it is much easier to control your shot with a lower axis rotation. If you stay more behind it the ball tends to hook earlier and not as violently on the backend. This tends to lend more to consistent shots. While having a higer axis rotation the ball tends to stay in the slide stage longer and then snaps more on the back end. This causes more misses if you aren't throwing the ball exactly the same (rotation/speed) every time. Its a problem I am currently dealing with.
@ArtOfBowling
@ArtOfBowling 3 жыл бұрын
@@williamgriffin6256 most bowlers want to over rotate the ball if you look at say EJ Tackett's ball motion his axis rotation is in the 18 to 25 degree range....check out the athletic bowling video of his release in slow motion it is what we should be striving for

As I used to tell my teammates back in the day, "There are no style points in bowling." That being said, the key to success is being able to repeat your shot over and over and over again. The professionals are bowling hundreds of frames in a month over various oil patterns in multiple locations. They are doing what they are doing because that's what they do. I bowl in two leagues a week...24 games a month with not much practice in between. For me, the less I try to do, the better my results. You need to find the shot you can repeat, whether it's high rev or high roll. The pins will tell you what's working and what isn't.

This video title is almost 100% clickbait. There was nothing in the video on how to have a pro bowlers release. Zero, zilch, zip, nothing. Adam Chase tells us in today’s game you want to roll the ball more than ever. What does that even mean? Does that mean more revs? Does that mean having the ball read the lane and go into it’s break earlier? Then he tells us we need 20 to 25 degrees of axis rotation. Ok fine. How do we figure out or measure what degree of axis rotation we have? Finally there is nothing on this video about defeating lane breakdown and that is definitely something I would love to know how to do. Arthur you are obviously a good coach and probably a great guy but I have to tell you this video does not make me want to subscribe to this channel.
